    CDR,
First please don't type in all caps it's called shouting and also is hard to read.
We could use your system specks to help but my first guess is that you have an NVIDIA card and need to change your drivers.
Let us know how you do.

All looks good, you could, if the wallet allows, add another 512mb ram. I couldn't find the video card (old eyes also) and do you have the latest DirectX 9.0c.
DX819696 means to me that you only have DirectX 9.0a.

    http://www.microsoft.com/windows/directx/

The video card and it's drivers could be your problem.

Let us know whatever you have.

Your running an older card (64mb) most of us are using a 128mb or better. You have what seems to me to be the original drivers that came on your machine.
You can use a later driver, with an older card like that I wouldn't try the newest drivers they may be too much for the card to handle.
DirectX is still hidden in that screenie but you can check and see if you have the latest.
Check out their old drivers, match your number up and get one that's a few months newer.
See if that helps with the blackouts and improves your FPS.
I'm not an NVIDIA user so asking TTT would help. He uses it, so would be more familiar with the drivers, I use ATI.

Shocked I saw the video card and thought I would leave it to you Laughing

That card may have been top of the tree a couple of years ago,but now Ill
As you are running XP you could try newer drivers and use XP to turn back to the older drivers if you encounter problems

    http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp

    Or for tweaked drivers

    http://www.omegadrivers.net/

But I think you will have to ditch it
The min spec is 64mbs for fs(where Microsoft got that from beats the hell out of me)

Im a little confused Confused is this an AGP card or PCI? or intergrated??(Ive had a quick scan aboutfor info)

Try the drivers 1st and come back to us
(its late UK so will be offline soon)

    Welcome to the forum CDR
For my best knowledge I was the oldest member in the forum (maybe Davec is older than me) with my 67 years. So let me proudly give away my crone to some body more qualified than me. To the problem u presented I have relatively a good card but some times as u say “once a while” I have it too.
It is difficult to follow what is the “BUG” but one of the ways I am using is:
    Go control panel
    Select : Administrative Tools
    Select : Event Viewer
    Select : Application
    Hit “Type” tab
Find “Error: s and locate the relevant event by time and by day
Double click on the item and see what is the prob described. Some times is not relevant information but some times it’s help
U can see if it is a system error as well (like memory problem)
By the way with 64Mb card U will suffer a lott.
BTW: where is fligt sim insttaled :Drive C: or D:

    My FS9 is now A_OK.
    ----------------------------------------------------------------
Thanks for your advice on My mdiva card.

In stalling a different drive and changing some numbers have seemed to do the trick.

My FS9 has not given me any trouble science I made the changes.

As a matter of fact my frame rates are running between 25 and 29.

    What a pleaser.
