Hello All,
I'm new to the forum. I am in the process of building my 1st Simpit.
It will consist of 5 PCs. 4 are average P4s with 4 19" Monitors for Gauges. I just finished building the Main system.
I7 965 OCed to just shy of 5 GHz (water cooled)
Asus P6T OC palm MB
6Gb 1800mhz Tri channel DDR3
1000 Watt PS
2 300 Gb 10K RPM Velociraptor Hdds
2 nVidia 290 OC Video cards (No SLI - 3 monitors + 1 Projector)
Termamax Case
64 bit Vista
2 24" Monitors (R & L wing views)
1 20" Monitor for GPS
1 Dell HD DLP Projector
FSX
FS Global 2009
Real Trees
Shockwave Lighting
Fsxpand
Instructors Station
1 Saitek AP
3 Saitek Radio panels ( To make a stack)
6 2 1/2" Saitek Pro flight gauges
1 Saitek yoke, 3 Axis Throttle quadrant, rudder pedals
extra 3 Axis Throttle quadrant ( to make a 6 Axis Throttle quadrant)
108 Key Keyboard emulator
Output module.
I have the stuff, now I need to build. I thought this would be a great place to get the guidance and advice I need.
I'm not really sure how to start. I don't have enough space in my game room for a totally enclosed cockpit. I guess I need to find plans or designs for some sort of table/cockpit.
Any Direction and / or advice would be great

I was just thinking (got to be careful not to hurt myself)
If there is a place on this site and if anyone wants...
I could post the step by step build (with pics) of the construction.
Just a thought... _________________

Actually you could just post the step by step of it's construction right here in the flyaway forums. Probably just in the General section would do.
and that set-up seems great, just make sure you got one hell of a processor and cooling system for all that. _________________ (Insanity) = Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. |

Believe it or not, I haven't heard many people talk about building cockpits for themselves on this site since I've been here...
Believe it or not, the X-Plane forum has a section devoted to exactly this sort of thing-- here: http://forums.x-plane.org//?showforum=64
Also, you might want to look into using X-plane as I believe it is easier to set up for this kind of thing.
Nice to have ya around! _________________ My real name's bob, feel free to use it!

I have X plane...
I'm not real fond of it. it's way to limited as what you can add to it.
Both software and hardware wise
But thanks for your input. _________________

I have X-plane in the Motion flight simulator at my college.
But yeah all stick to FSX for my PC.
Yeah i would still post your construction pics just here in the general section cause really not many people always visit the section you talk about. _________________ (Insanity) = Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. |
