I've probably said this before but I know a guy behind the scenes at NTL who flys a spitfire for real. He's part of a consortium that own it jointly and the share the flying time. It is apparently a very difficult aircraft to taxi and take off properly, and aproach speed is critical because if you realise you need a wedge of power the torque of the engine will flip you over very easily - a lot of spits were lost this way.
