Can't Get the Burners to Work

Finally got the F-14 working pretty well. Incredible model and kudos to the creators. But I still can't get the afterburners to work. I've made sure the correct effects are installed in the main fs9/effects folder. Is this wrong? Any ideas. I have also checked the assignments for engine controls so that shouldn't be the problem. I'm even trying it with the lights on per the L key command, still no dice. Confused
