Editorial

Having recently picked up the Steam Edition of Flight Simulator X, I decided it was probably a good time to start putting things in there such as flight mods and other nice extras. With so many mods installed on the normal version of FSX, I thought I would try this mod out in the Steam Edition to give me something new that I hadn’t personally experienced before.

Therefore, when I first downloaded the mod and started it up I was pretty impressed by the immediate quality that the aircraft represented – many mods can look nice, but nothing out of the ordinary, but I was genuinely very impressed here.

Given the excellent Dynamic Shine effect, you get a really unique looking aircraft that genuinely takes on the characteristics of one of the real things. Including the fact that there are so many animated things going on at once, giving you all the help that you need to really understand how the aircraft is operating whilst you fly, you can easily get a nice little education of the mechanics and movements of an aircraft as interesting as the Boeing 747-200 AF1 aircraft.

It’s a really popular model, improved even further by Bill Kovatchev. He painted over the original Project Opensky model, giving it a nice new look and something for everyone to enjoy the look of. However, it’s not all just about the graphics as we all know and I have to say that the actual performance was equally as impressive as the look and the feel.

Having spent a lot of time reading into Boeing aircraft in the past I was really looking forward to trying this out and seeing what was going to be in store for me; I’d used them many times in the past, but not this particular model. It’s safe to say that the actual quality of the cockpit and all of the assorted features – not to mention the top rate animation within the cockpit itself – made it incredibly easy to start using and managing in the same manner as I was used to with other modifications.

All of the must-have features are included for you to get to grips with, too, and this will help you really understand what lies ahead for you in terms of the overall performance of the aircraft. You’ll have more power here than many will be used to, as well, thanks to the quality of the aircraft in general. The Boeing range is like aviation royalty, and it shows with the stunning selection of features and extras that await you if you decide to give this a shot. I knew roughly what to expect from the aircraft, but with so much going on inside it really does a great job of making the aircraft feel alive.

The passengers, the cargo doors and the flexing wings all look brilliant, too; it’s a modification that certainly brings the little things to the spotlight, which can only help sell you the entire picture here!

Great paint but it downloaded with a propeller sound instead of a jet engine. Did anyone else get that?

Great Job. I've been flying it since the day it was released...I've so much enjoyed it. I thought no one would attempt to repaint, but I'm so glad you did. It's been fun flying in and out of the many airports I've seen this plan at. Phenomenal!!! I'd love to see some more of this guys work... MJ

This aircraft is great, it was easy to download if you know what you are doing. Best one i have seen on this site in a long time. Everything works, just a few bugs with the lights, and a virtual cockpit would be nice. But its awsome 10 all the way
