Alpha Simulation C130 Hercules, originally designed for FS2004, has been reworked for FSX with new sounds, new VC only flight deck, multiple pop up windows, new air file, new flight dynamics, new air configuration, thumbnails, adjustable cargo and fuel weights, new gauges, exhaust effects, all textures converted to DDS format, new camera views, window icons placed within the VC. Installation:

  • After opening this zip file you will notice 3 separate sub-folders 1st is the SimObjects folder open in the you will find a folder named airplanes open that folder, copy and paste the folders named "ALPHA C-130 Hercules" into your FSX airplane folder the default path is:
    "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes"
  • Next open the Effects folder copy the 1 files inside paste into the main Effects folder of FSX. It default path should be:
    "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Effects"
  • Finally open the folder named Sound copy all the contents inside and paste into the main FSX Sound folder its default path should be:
    "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Sound"

Now if anyone's item is used that I did not give credit for, I am truly sorry I did not mean to use something without notification. Everything used is a freeware item.

After all the pieces are in place lets go fly!

I think Ray might need some glasses. I had no issue what so ever reading anything. The plane flys incredibly well taking off was a bit tricky needed lots of runway, but I'll check to see if thats a weight issue. Loved it so far 5 out of 5.

kid. I just downloaded this model a second time . There was a crappy panel in it originally, then, so I trashed it. When I saw there was no panel this time, I opened the "panel.cfg" file. There are no gauge files listed under the main panel - hence - no instrument panel. I suspect he read my previous comment and just eliminated the gauges that were there. What I suggest is fining a panel you are comfortable with for a 4 engine aircraft naturally and copying and pasting it in to c130 folder in your sim objects/aircraft folder. Make any changes you may need in the config files for the panel or aircraft and you can fly the way you are familiar with. Other than that, you'll need to wait for a freeware model or grab a decent payware one. Just don't upload your changes and claim authorship. This download though, is trash to me - again.

The download and installation were smooth and went well. The instrument panel is a little difficult to handle. The instruments are so small and difficult to read that it is unsafe to fly this aircraft.
