Modlin Mazovia Airport is a military airport located 35 km north of Modlin, Poland. Built in 1937, the airport was first used in 1940 as an airbase for the German Luftwaffe in occupied Poland. Polish and Soviet air forces used the airport between 1945 and 2000. In 2000, the Polish Ministry of National Defence closed the airfield.
In 2012, a decision was made to convert the disused military airfield into a passenger airport. The airport will open for passenger service for the UEFA Euro 2012, scheduled for 8 June – 1 July 2012.
