Enjoy a carefully crafted repaint capturing Air Canada’s earlier design on a Bombardier CRJ-700 in Microsoft Flight Simulator X. This freeware release faithfully depicts registration C-FWRR in the airline's older colors while preserving all the essential details you expect. Created by James Landes, the texture set seamlessly integrates with the default CRJ700, delivering a regional jet theme that reflects a period in the carrier’s history when this airframe was a staple of short-haul operations.

Distinctive Appearance of the Airframe

The CRJ (Canadair Regional Jet) family began as a modification of the Challenger series, originally designated as the LearStar 600. In this version, the CRJ700 is extended to accommodate around 70 passengers, offering an increased wingspan and newly added leading-edge slats. Furthermore, it features an advanced electronic flight instrument system (EFIS) and a “glass cockpit” configuration, ensuring high levels of situational awareness during routine flights. This repaint depicts one of Air Canada’s regional jets that once served as a reliable commuter linking multiple domestic and cross-border destinations.

Technical Model Integration

Since this package only includes the livery, you will need the freeware base model available in the Fly Away Simulation library. Once that model is acquired, the enclosed textures will transform the default CRJ-700 into a convincing Air Canada variant bearing an authentic registration. Positioning your virtual airliner at any gate or ramp epitomizes a classic Canadian aviation scene from years past.

Aircraft.cfg Entry

After copying the provided texture.aco folder into your Bombardier CRJ_700 directory, locate and open your aircraft.cfg file in the same folder. Then add this text under the next available [fltsim.X] entry (substitute “X” with the correct sequence number):

Installation Steps

  1. Unzip and place the texture.aco folder into your CRJ-700 main directory, typically found under: Microsoft Games/Microsoft Flight Simulator X/SimObjects/Airplanes/Bombardier CRJ_700.
  2. Open aircraft.cfg and insert the above snippet, making sure to replace “X” with the next sequential number.

Once these steps conclude, the repaint will be selectable within your simulator’s aircraft menu. Ensure the model is installed correctly so that no missing textures occur.
