This enhanced repaint showcases a vintage United Airlines Boeing 377 Stratocruiser for Microsoft Flight Simulator X, bringing an iconic piston-powered era to life. The textures have been meticulously crafted by Sean Doran, who adapted A2A Simulations’ payware Stratocruiser model to reflect the style and markings used by United Airlines. This package comprises texture files only, so flight sim enthusiasts will need to own the corresponding commercial product from A2A Simulations in order to enjoy this livery.

United Airlines Heritage and the Boeing 377

The Boeing 377 Stratocruiser was recognized for its spacious pressurized cabin and distinctive double-lobe fuselage (sometimes called the “double-bubble” layout). United Airlines deployed these four-engine airliners on long-haul services, taking advantage of their expansive range powered by Pratt & Whitney R-4360 Wasp Major radial engines. Developed partly from the B-29 and B-50 Superfortress designs, the 377 delivered transoceanic capability that appealed to major carriers of its day.

description=Like the C-97, the 377 was developed towards the end of World War II by adapting an enlarged upper fuselage onto the lower fuselage and wings which were essentially the same as the B-50 Superfortress, the high-performance evolution of the B-29 Superfortress bomber. The 377 was larger and longer ranged than the Lockheed Constellation and Douglas DC-7, with nonstop transatlantic range, but the P&W R-4360 Wasp Major engines proved uneconomical, with production ending in 1950.
