This remake of the Eurocopter AS350 is a major improvement over older models that I have used in the past, and gives me access to a fine piece of kit.

A New Ideal

I tend to fly helicopters of this size whenever I do use one and the detail, care for realism and attention to precision on every last little rivet and bolt of the model is so important. But best of all, though, I does a wonderful job of capturing the real thing in all of its glory with detail to the way it flies as important as attention to the way that it looks.

This is a remake of the FS2004/FS9 edition and does a great job of capturing the best detail possible given the relative limitations of the simulators in question. Whilst you might be used to the more dramatic look and feel of FSX today, this does a good job of getting these models up to as close to that standard as possible so it does not look out of place with your current mods.

Installation

First off, I want to really praise how easy this is to install. Some aircraft can require a lot of running around and soft editing to get working but this took me a matter of moments to install and get it working in my favor. More importantly, though, this does a spectacular job of giving you a remake of the aircraft that is true to the detail of the real thing.

Performance

Once you get through the basic installation process, you’ll have access to the multiple features that this provides all at once. This aircraft is a great collation of models, repaints, main panels and extra gauges that really do help to bring the whole together in one awesome compilation. For a free mod, this is up there, casting a fantastic look and feel across the board.

The owner and creator of this, Daniel McCarthy, done a great job of putting together the little things that are needed to make a helicopter like this easy to fly. The cockpit is in scale, the gears and the gauges are all visible and easy to work with and – most importantly of all – it’s comfortable to take part in. No epic challenges trying to get used to this model, as Daniel has done a wonderful job in capturing the ease of use that this aircraft is famed for and putting it into a simple package.

The Verdict

I’d heartily recommend this to fans of the Eurocopter themselves as well as those who have never had the pleasure of seeing it in action. It’s a great and easy to fly aircraft that does a lot of positive things for the simulator, giving you a simple way to start learning about a rather quirky and exciting piece of aviation history!

I installed this aircraft in FSX-acceleration and was impressed. I've since upgraded to P3d vs3.4 and installed it there as well. Everything works with the exception of the cockpit glass which is completely fogged over. Any suggestions on how to fix this?
