CWR Common Weather Radar Now Available

CWR is an add-on gauge for FS2004 that simulates a real weather radar, allowing you to view inflight fronts and storms right in your aircraft's panel. For details, click on Read More.

CWR is an add-on that gives you a real cloud and weather overview of the area in front of your aircraft. This is a real weather radar, that means it shows you cold fronts or thunderstorms comming toward you and you can safely avoid thunderstorm areas. The gauge is usable for every aircraft and panel type.

For a perfect flight simulator environment, one of the requirements is the simulation of the weather radar system. This system would allow the user to view the different weather conditions including the approaching storm in their aircraft panel.

Different development companies have created such simulated weather radar systems as an add on control that could be included as part of the application. Common weather radar is the add on that is used with Microsoft flight simulator applications.

This common weather radar add on has been developed by a company called AOS. By making use of this add on, one could get an overview of the cloud that comes in the path of the flight. This would appear very similar to the real time flight environment.

AOS has used the bitmap technology to arrive at this cloud overview that is present in the path of the flight. This bitmap technology would help in getting the information related to the cloud density, type of cloud and also the position of the cloud cover.

CWR add on fits perfectly with the different panels available in the different aircraft flights. Another type of weather add on has been released for the Microsoft FS 2004 by a company called Reality XP. This add on is called the flight line Wx500. Similar to Common weather radar (CWR), this weather add on also has the capability to show the cloud profile using the panel available in the flight simulator. In addition to this, Wx500 also has some advanced capabilities such as Gain control, Radar beam tilt angle, Radar ground clutter echoes and Radar shadow from heavy water bodies. Thus this weather add on has the capability to detect the water bodies in addition to getting the parameters related to the cloud cover in the vicinity.

This add on is compatible with different types of weather engines, weather themes and weather settings.
