FSX Qantas Airbus A380-800. High quality Gmax model of the Airbus A380-800, the world's largest passenger jet. The model includes all the usual things as a steering nose wheel, taxi and landing lights, dynamic shine and all moving parts, including a fully animated landing gear animation. Some special things include three opening doors, with visible interior, flexing wings, wing views and trim animation for the horizontal stabilisers. Model, dynamics and textures by Robert Versluys. Repainted and detailed by Raul Abella.

Installation :

  1. Extract the zip file and move the QANTAS ScreenSaver of your discretion.
  2. Copy and paste 0Qantas_A380 folder to the FSX\SimObjects\Airplanes folder.
  3. Run the FSX then point to the 1 CURRENT AIRCRAFT: CHANGE (button) then click and find the thumbnail of the Airbus A380-800 QANTAS then point and click to highlight the image, then click OK.

If you alreadyhave the "Airbus A380-800 QANTAS" name in the aircraft database. there will be a conflict, if you know what to do then there's no worry. If you don't, then you have to open the aircraft.cfg file with the notepad and rename the title to this QANTAS A380-800 then save...remember to find the thumbnail in FSX will be in the bottom.

One thing that we all love to see from our flight simulation excursions is the extra boost that flying something extra large in size can be. So, what could be more fun to a flight simulation enthusiast than flying the largest ever manmade aircraft? Having beaten the Boeing brand down with its almost comical size and absolutely stunning array of features and additions, it’s no surprise that many others like me were absolutely dying to take this stunning aircraft out for a ride.

The Airbus A380

The A380-800 is one of the most popular aircraft in the world, despite only being introduced a decade ago. Having been sent down by Airbus as a genuine competitor for Boeing – something it achieved with ease – this is an aircraft that changed a lot about the industry. Costing around 428m per purchase, these are one of the most expensive aircraft around but they certainly give the airlines who are willing to pay for them plenty of bang for their buck!

So, how does it stack up in a flight simulator?

Incredibly Realistic

One of the first things that I noticed was the attention to detail and accuracy within the design. The Gmax model that was used to store the aircraft looks absolutely sublime even at medium settings, and gives you a real cutting edge aircraft model to fly. Everything has been taken into account, to make sure that the aircraft can develop as it should. It’s got all of the bells and whistles that the real thing carries from key features like the steering nose wheel to the various taxi and landing lights that will come on as and when they are needed.

New animations were created from scratch to go with this massive aircraft, giving you a plane that looks just as it feels – authentic. When you first start using the cockpit, too, you’ll notice that it has all of the additions you would hope to see. I was hugely impressed with the cockpit at the first time of using, and several weeks down the line I’m still so impressed with the little quirks and additions that escaped me the first time around.

It’s The Little Things

A key to any good flight simulator’ aircraft being well received is the small details. Whilst all of the big additions are practically demanded, it’s the little features that we would forget to ask about that make these additions so absolutely epic. This remake of the Airbus gives you all of the little features like flexing wings and opening doors throughout that give the aircraft a genuine air of life about it.

If, like myself, you prefer your aircraft simulators to feel as realistic as possible this might be the perfect addition for you. The repaint that is included in this version comes with all of the little quirks and additions that it should have, carrying the Qantas logo prominently and adding another layer of class and realism to the overall design.

Installation of Add-on Aircraft/Scenery

Most of the freeware add-on aircraft and scenery packages in our file library come with easy installation instructions which you can read above in the file description.  For further installation help, please see our installation help page here or view the README file contained within the file.

Just loaded it and it works wonderful.Take off and landed very nice. Could use a little more exciting panel. But color and detail of plane and of course the most important thing "It works"! was all nice. Thank you.

Great plane, best A380, I just wish they would make more repaints, I can only find Aegean and Olympic textures for it + they need to make a VC!

flys well enough and looks great, however the 2D panel keeps disappearing. not good when your trying to land, espcially as it's the only instrumentation.
