FSX Olympic Airlines Airbus A380-800

Olympic Airlines colors wrap the Airbus A380-800 with crisp, high-fidelity exterior textures, accurate logos, markings, window lines, engine decals, and tail insignia for a convincing classic Greek flag-carrier look in FSX. The repaint preserves the standard virtual cockpit and systems and requires Robert Versluys’ freeware A380 base model.

This modification provides a detailed repaint of the Airbus A380-800 in Olympic Airlines colors for FSX. It delivers an authentic visual representation of the former Greek national carrier’s livery on this modern wide-body jet, offering flight simulation enthusiasts a technically accurate exterior without altering cockpit functions or systems.

Background

Olympic Airlines served as Greece’s primary airline for several decades, distinguishing itself with a recognizable logo and color scheme. While the carrier no longer operates, this repaint gives you the opportunity to relive its spirit in your simulator sessions. The Airbus A380-800, known for its significant passenger capacity and advanced aerodynamics, becomes even more engaging with these newly adapted textures.

Key Aspects

  • High-fidelity exterior textures featuring the distinct Olympic Airlines palette
  • Accurate fuselage detailing, logos, and markings that align with the carrier’s classic design
  • Integrated placement of window lines, engine decals, and tail insignia for a more realistic look
  • This repaint focuses exclusively on external aesthetics; cockpit and panel configurations remain standard

Compatibility and Installation

This package consists of textures only and is designed for use with the freeware base model by Robert Versluys. To properly install, locate and download the required A388ABUS.ZIP (available in the Fly Away Simulation library), then add these new texture files according to the instructions in the provided documentation. Once installed, you will see the Olympic Airlines option in your aircraft selection menu within FSX.

Developer Acknowledgment

All credit for the base model goes to Robert Versluys, who has meticulously developed the freeware Airbus A380 platform. This repaint simply enhances the external visuals by introducing the Olympic Airlines branding, ensuring a faithful re-creation of a historical livery for those seeking to explore virtual skies with this powerful aircraft.

How to install this mod

FSX / P3D aircraft
  1. Extract the downloaded archive

Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files.
  2. Copy aircraft files into SimObjects

Place the aircraft folder inside FSX\SimObjects\Airplanes\. The folder must contain an aircraft.cfg file. Effects go into FSX\Effects\; gauges go into FSX\Gauges\.
  3. Verify in FSX

Launch FSX, go to Free Flight → Select Aircraft and find your new aircraft under its manufacturer.
  4. Always read the included readme

Every mod ships with a readme.txt or README file. It tells you exactly where files go, what dependencies are needed, and any quirks specific to this add-on.
