Authentic Airline Background

Southern Winds was an Argentine carrier known for operating the venerable Boeing 737-200 Advanced variant on domestic and regional services. This specific aircraft, named "Islas Malvinas," embodies unique national significance while providing reliable short-to-midrange capacity. The design’s balance of cargo and passenger traffic allowed it to serve numerous airports across the region.

Performance Enhancements

Focusing on accuracy, this release comes with a recently revised AirFile for the 737-200 Advanced series. Under typical cruise conditions, the airliner maintains Mach 0.77 at 35,000 ft with smoother handling at various climb profiles. The modifications reflect real-world data and aim to preserve essential aerodynamic behaviors, ensuring realistic handling through all flight phases.

Compatibility Notes

Designed initially for Just Flight Traffic 2004, this package also adapts seamlessly to other AI traffic environments. The AI model has been refined to match official specifications, making it suitable for realistic hub-and-spoke operations or domestic route simulations.

Included Flight Schedules

Prepared for enthusiasts who enjoy replicating real airline operations, a set of 30 scheduled flights is included. These routes follow official 2004 timetables, allowing hobbyists to fly the same corridors that Southern Winds once did. Each plan aligns with destination coordinates and route structures common to Argentine domestic services, ensuring immersive traffic flows throughout the country.

Installation Process

  • Locate the JFAIB732 folder within your aircraft directory in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004.
  • Consider backing up your original content before proceeding.
  • Place the new “sdw1” texture folder into the appropriate directory.
  • Overwrite the existing AirFile (JFAIB732) with the revised one provided by Daniel Nole.
  • Update the aircraft configuration by copying the included text block into your aircraft.cfg file.

Key Developer Acknowledgments

This freeware adaptation unites the work of Daniel Nole, who meticulously contributed both the repaint and the enhanced flight dynamics. By integrating real route data and refining the core flight characteristics, the development team ensures an immersive experience for any pilot eager to recreate the routes once served by the Southern Winds fleet.
