This updated DC-10-30 package for FS2004 brings authentic Air Florida markings and an array of refinements designed by SGA, working closely with a real-world pilot. It showcases advanced wing flex motion and reworked flight handling to match the real tri-engine jetliner’s performance parameters. The vivid Air Florida livery, once a familiar sight in the late 1970s and early 1980s, is represented here by Frank Idone’s accurate repaint. Installation requires the base package SGA1030.ZIP, ensuring smooth setup.
Notable Technical Enhancements
Unlike earlier iterations, this particular rendition incorporates Dynamic Flexing Wings. These wing surfaces subtly shift and bend during general flight operations, reflecting aerodynamic loads encountered during takeoff, cruising, turbulence, or a firm touchdown. This fidelity is driven by SGA’s modeling, which simulates the physics of wing stress more precisely.
Refined Flight Dynamics
Flight tuning benefits significantly from guidance provided by an active DC-10 pilot. Control responsiveness, climb capability, and approach behavior have been calibrated to mirror the real aircraft’s tri-engine configuration. The DC-10-30 variant, which adds a center main landing gear assembly for enhanced weight distribution, is known for its increased range and higher payload capacity compared to previous DC-10 models.

A Note on Air Florida’s Heritage
Air Florida gained attention for its short-lived but impactful history as a low-cost carrier, operating around the southeastern United States and beyond. Its aircraft featured distinctive green-and-blue branding, which is meticulously rendered in this repaint. For virtual pilots seeking that nostalgic charm, the Air Florida colors on a wide-body McDonnell Douglas tri-jet create an engaging period-specific flight experience.
Steps for Installation
After placing the extracted folder into the simulator’s "Aircraft" directory, the aircraft.cfg
file must be edited. Locate other DC-10 entries and then paste the block below, ensuring that "X" is replaced by the next available number. If currently the list extends to fltsim.3, the new entry should be fltsim.4, and so on.

description=Model by SGA, Air Florida repaint by Frank Idone. The Series 30 offered considerably improved payload and range capability with increased fuel capacity and thrust, which necessitated an increase of 10 feet in wingspan and the addition of a center main landing gear assembly. Most popular of all the variants, a total of 206 Series 30s were built, including 27 -30CFs, 4 extended range -30ERs, and 12 pure freighter -30Fs. Unlike the Series 10, most -30s were ordered without the optional lower deck galley to allowed increased cargo capacity. First revenue flight for a Series 30ER was on December 15, 1972 with Swissair. The Series 30CF (Convertible Freighter) was first certified in March 1973 and placed into revenue service in April 1973.

Additional Guidance
The full capabilities of this add-on are unlocked when used with the SGA1030.ZIP base pack. This ensures the proper flight model is present and all details function cohesively. SGA’s enhancements underscore key engineering traits: the tri-jet design, significant transatlantic flying range, and a realistic cockpit feel shaped by input from an actual DC-10 aviator.
Through these improvements and meticulous repaint work by Frank Idone, the Air Florida DC-10-30 delivers an engaging flight simulation experience. SGA’s precise 3D modeling rounds out an authentic wide-body atmosphere, allowing virtual captains to explore flight routes with a historical livery recognized for its bright color scheme and era-specific design.
