Screenshot of Saratov Yak-40 on the ground.
The Saratov Yak 40 was an iconic passenger jet built by the the Saratov aircraft factory from 1966 till 1978 with a total of 1011 planes manufactured and only 125 exported to other countries. So, most of the Yaks, about 750 of them, were used by Aeroflot. The Yak 40 has 3 jet engines and carries 32 passengers. A S Yakovlev led the design team and The Yak is probably named after him. Also, it could be a reference to the Yak, the hard working animal of mountainous Tibet which carries great loads in extreme cold. A number of Yaks( about 400) are still in service today in the corporate, business and charter sector. The Yak is still famed for its ruggedness and reliability in poor conditions.
This file is compatible with Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004, however does require the original SCDSYK40.ZIP to work.
