This AFCAD2 update refines Marine Corps Outlying Field Atlantic (12NC) in North Carolina with more accurate traffic patterns and training possibilities for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004. It modifies the standard airport layout, allowing aircraft based at MCAS Cherry Point or MCAS New River to conduct structured VFR approaches and mission exercises. By including new parking options, it brings authentic operational variety to your simulator experience. Created by Keith Guillory.
Enhanced Layout for MCOLF Atlantic
Marine Corps Outlying Field Atlantic is commonly utilized for tactical training and approach practice. This add-on provides improved placement of ramps, taxi routes, and parking nodes, ensuring seamless operations for fighters and transport aircraft. The adjustments enable users to practice realistic takeoffs, landings, and circuit work typically performed by the United States Marine Corps in this region. Pilots can familiarize themselves with the unique environment of North Carolina’s coastal plains, where both navigation and procedural accuracy are paramount.
Overview of 12NC.
Parking and Traffic Configuration
This AFCAD2 file comes with carefully arranged parking spaces that match the operational requirements of a Marine Corps outlying field. A few entries are specifically designated for training wings from MCAS New River and MCAS Cherry Point, creating a structured traffic flow. Moreover, the layout accommodates a variety of aircraft sizes, further expanding potential training schedules for virtual pilots.
Optional AI Flight Plans
The same developer, Keith Guillory, also provides detailed AI flight plans specifically tailored for MCOLF Atlantic, KNKT (MCAS Cherry Point, NC), KNTU (NAS Oceana), KMGE (Dobbins JRB in Georgia), and KNJM (Marine Corps Auxiliary Field Bogue). For added immersion, consider installing these plans, which can be found in a package referred to as “Marines_Eastcoast part 1.zip.” These traffic files help populate key Marine Corps locations with lifelike movements, perfect for more dynamic naval aviation experiences.
