This freeware repaint showcases Finnair’s latest color scheme on an Airbus A330-300 (registered OH-LTM), meticulously crafted by Ryan Gabuyo for use with Thomas Ruth’s base model. It has been tailored to function smoothly in Microsoft Flight Simulator X, although the model mandates SP1, SP2, or the Acceleration expansion pack for optimal performance. Within this package, various enhancements such as precise tail logo alignment, removal of obsolete fuselage markings, and properly scaled winglet graphics are included.

Finnair’s Widebody Operations

Finnair commonly deploys the A330-300 for long-range routes across Asia and North America. The aircraft, distinguished by its wide fuselage design, ensures efficient passenger loading and enhanced flight stability. This version carries the airline’s updated identity, recognizable by streamlined titles on the forward fuselage and a reworked tail emblem. Registered as OH-LTM, it highlights Finnair’s dedication to modern and fuel-efficient aircraft solutions.

Refinements in the Repaint

This texture pack incorporates corrections of asymmetrical tail graphics, adjusted fuselage details, and modified winglet logos. The developer removed prior red markings so that the finished product more closely mirrors the airline’s authentic branding. Visual clarity has also been boosted by fine-tuning the resolution, ensuring an immersive exterior finish that is faithful to the real-world aircraft.

Included Formats and Compatibility

Two sets of texture formats are provided: 32-bit and DXT5. While 32-bit textures offer improved fidelity for those who prioritize visual refinement, they will occupy more disc space compared to the compressed DXT5 version. Both formats are compatible with Microsoft Flight Simulator X under SP1, SP2, or Acceleration conditions. Ensure one of these service packs or expansions is present, or the model may not display as intended.

Implementing the Textures

  1. Locate your existing Tom_A330-300 folder, where Thomas Ruth’s base model is installed.
  2. Drop the included texture.FIN_NC folder into the main Tom_A330-300 directory. If you prefer the higher-quality assets, replace them with the 32-bit items from the 32-bit folder.
  3. Open fltsim.txt from the download package and copy its [fltsim.X] entry details.
  4. Navigate to your aircraft.cfg file in the Tom_A330-300 folder, paste the [fltsim.X] entry after the last fltsim entry, and update “X” to the next sequential number.
  5. Save the changes. The next time you select available aircraft, look for the title referencing “Airbus A330-3020 Finnair NC,” and you’ll be able to fly the updated livery.

Base Model Requirement

This repaint is for the freeware Airbus A330-300 developed by Thomas Ruth. Since no core model files are included in this download, make sure to obtain the original package from the Fly Away Simulation mod library. Once installed properly, you can fully explore the refinements in this Finnair repaint and immerse yourself in the detailed textures during scheduled or virtual intercontinental flights.
