FSX Yakovlev Yak-38

The Yakovlev Yak-38 Forger brings Soviet VTOL fighter operations to FSX with a detailed virtual cockpit, two texture sets, and authentic vertical takeoff and landing handling. The VTOL function requires FSUIPC plus Rob Barendregt’s VTOL Controller, enabling convincing hover, transitions, and short-field missions from austere pads and carriers.

Base model included

FSX Yak 38 (D_D0-38; NATO reporting name: "Forger") was the only operational VTOL fighter jet of the Soviet Union. This package includes a virtual cockpit and two textures sets, and the VTOL ability (requires prior installation of Peter Dowson's FSUIPC. VTOL controller by Rob Barendregt). Installation:

  • Extract to \Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes\ directory.
  • VTOL ability requires prior installation of Peter Dowson's FSUIPC.

FSX / P3D Complete with Base Model

  1. Extract the downloaded archive

    Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files.

  2. Place files per the readme

    Most FSX add-ons go into one of: SimObjects\Airplanes\, Addon Scenery\, Effects\, or Gauges\.

  3. Always read the included readme

    Every mod ships with a readme.txt or README file. It tells you exactly where files go, what dependencies are needed, and any quirks specific to this add-on.
