USMC TO-2/TV-2/T-33B. This is a rework of Tim Conrad's Lockheed T-33A for FSX…
US Marines T-33B VMF-321 textures recreate BuNo 137993 as flown in the late 1960s, with era-correct insignia, crisp stencil work, and a subtly weathered exterior for an authentic Marine jet trainer look in Microsoft Flight Simulator X. Requires Ed Wells’s freeware Lockheed T-33 base model and compatible paint kit.
Elevate Microsoft Flight Simulator X with an authentic US Marines T-33B repaint derived from Ed Wells’s refined freeware Lockheed T-33 release, integrating Bill Stephens’s advanced paint kit. Designed to replicate a T-33B assigned to Marine Fighter Squadron 321 (VMF-321) around 1967, this update offers historically accurate insignia, enhanced markings, and a detailed exterior finish for enthusiasts seeking a more immersive military jet trainer experience. Created by John Detrick, this package provides texture files only and does not include the original model, which is available as a freeware download in the Fly Away Simulation library (file name: T-33A_FSX_2010_REV_A.ZIP).
The Lockheed T-33, often referred to as the T-Bird, evolved from the earlier F-80 Shooting Star design. Originally introduced as a specialized training aircraft, it leveraged the proven airframe of one of the first operational U.S. jet fighters. In naval terms, the T-33B served alongside Marine and Navy units, augmenting squadron readiness and providing practice targets or “bogeys” during exercises. This repaint focuses on a USMC variant bearing the Bureau Number 137993, which was frequently seen under the VMF-321 banner, reinforcing pilot flight proficiency and tactical familiarity within Marine squadrons of the 1960s.
After acquiring the appropriate freeware base files, users can install these textures by following a straightforward process. Begin by extracting the “texture.VMF321” folder, then place it inside your “CT-3A_fsx-2010” directory. This step ensures that Microsoft Flight Simulator X’s internal file structure recognizes the newly added repaint. Transition smoothly to the final adjustment by editing your “aircraft.cfg.”
Copy and paste this entry directly into the configuration file, replacing “xx” with the next available sequence number:

description = Developed from Lockheed's F-80 Shooting Star fighter, this rather simple trainer conversion went on to be one of the most successful jet trainers in history, with over 5000 made. License production in Canada and Japan added a few hundred more. It's hard to find a nation who didn't fly the T-Bird at one time or another. This T-Bird is in the markings of a USMC T-33B BuNo. 137993 assigned to VMF-321 and used as a trainer and "bogey".

This livery highlights marine-centric details including era-specific emblems, standard identification text, and accurate squadron demarcations. Subtle weathering effects underscore the aircraft’s operational context within VMF-321 during the late 1960s when these jets provided transitional flight training and dissimilar air combat exercises. The contrasting color scheme on the tail, fuselage, and wing surfaces is designed to engage fans of vintage U.S. Marine Corps aviation.
This repaint is designed primarily for Microsoft Flight Simulator X. It may function in other platforms as well, but full compatibility is not guaranteed. The base aircraft package, created by Ed Wells, merged with Bill Stephens’s paint kit, is essential. Special thanks to John Detrick for adapting these textures, bringing marine aviation history to life for modern simulator pilots who appreciate the Lockheed T-Bird’s storied legacy.
Remember to locate and install the freeware base model from Fly Away Simulation’s library before adding this repaint. Enjoy exploring the skies in a historically significant USMC trainer emblematic of a notable era in jet instruction and marine aviation evolution.
