Downloading add-ons from Fly Away Simulation

What is the difference between the "free" download or "PRO" download options?

When you click through to download a file from the Fly Away Simulation downloads library, you will be presented with two options - PRO Signup or Free download.

Downloading for free

You are able to download any of the files from the library completely free-of-charge, however, a speed limit will be applied to your download connection and you are only able to download one file at a time as a free user. The speed limit set for free downloads is 50KB/s.

Nearly all of the flight simulator sites that offer downloadable files have the same two-tier model. However, we are proud to be able to allow free downloads to any of our users without even requiring you to sign up to our website. No logins, no registration - just click to download.

PRO Subscription

We offer a paid-for subscription plan called our PRO membership.

The PRO membership includes many features but it is most useful for removing any restrictions on download speed and connection limits.

This subscription opens up the site and includes many features including:

Unrestricted download speed.
Multiple downloads at the same time.
Full profile and forum account including a rank system that you may build by posting more frequently (you don't post as a guest).
Your full name on comments along with your website (if you have one).
Exclusive discounts for payware products on our store, SimShack.
No advertising anywhere on the website.

What simulator packages do the add-ons work with?

We have over 25,000 add-ons in our file library and the files we feature work with many different flight simulator packages.

The most popular and most requested simulator package for mods is Microsoft Flight Simulator X (FSX), and more recently the Steam Edition (re-released by Dovetail Games on Steam). These add-ons take up the bulk of our download sections. Luckily, all of the files created for the original 2006 release of FSX also work with the Steam Edition. Users will also find that many (if not most) of the files created for FSX will also work with Lockheed Martin's PREPAR3D (P3D). However, since P3D went 64-bit in version 4, many users are reporting that some of the gauge and panel files do not work with this version. We are working hard source P3Dv4 specific add-ons for the file library. Please keep an eye out for these new versions.

We have also recently started featuring expansions for X-Plane. Focusing on version 11 (XP11). There seems to be a shift in the flight simulator community with many users adopting this latest simulation package. Developers have done this also and we are seeing many more submissions to our file library for the X-Plane 11 category.

Finally, we also feature files for older simulator platforms such as Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004, 2002 and even 2000/98. There is still some demand for these categories so we have continued to support them for the benefit of our users. They are updated less frequently but they are indeed updates nonetheless.

Are the files safe to use and install - have they been scanned for virus?

All of the files featured in our library have been thoroughly scanned and tested by antivirus software.

Before we publish the files we fully scan them and even after they are published on the site, we continue to scan them once per month for new vulnerabilities and virus. We use the ClamAV antivirus software using the latest definitions every time we scan.
