New Version of FS Navigation Map for Android Released by drubware

For many flight simulation fans, one of the most challenging parts of setting and steering a course comes from navigation. In fact, most people are using simulators to try and improve their navigation skills to stay on-course.

If you are someone who finds it hard to maintain directional consistency when they are about, you should consider using the FS Navigation Map. This is developed by Drubware, a company that are well-respected for creating an easy to work with app for tablets and phones. This is a simple piece of kit to work with, adding functionality for all tablets and mobile devices.

If you have any mobile devices at hand when enjoying a simulation, you can fire up FS Navigation Map and make life so much simpler for yourself. This latest update is to make sure that it performs even better, offering a navigation you can genuinely master!

Why Use The FS Navigation Map?

Now, you may be wondering why you should bother using the FS Navigation Map, right?

Most people find that it helps to improve their information mid-flight without having to lose too much concentration. Rather than trying to mess around with armies of on-screen detail you can keep your eyes on the flight while using the navigation map app to get major details. From navigational aids and airport information you can easily learn what you need from this simple app.

The interface is easy to use and it makes sure that you can easily enjoy a better flight experience. It’s a great choice for new users who are unsure of their flight experience yet, and want to use as many tools as they can to balance responsibilities with the information shown on-screen. If you find it hard to keep all of that information in your head, then split the information you need to watch on-screen, putting it onto a tablet/mobile device quickly and easily.

With this tool, you can then see over a map that showcases major locations such as nearby airports. It also shows you major details such as waypoints, VORs, NDBs and ILSs as well as frequencies, headings and major other search-related features. With the ability to also search specifically for what you need, this is one of the most powerful solutions that you could be using at this moment in time.

New Updated Features

One of the major improvements has been the ability to connect using a running simulator, and track flights in real-time. Naturally, this is going to massively improve the way that you are using the app – rather than having to do it all out of real-time, this new beta feature could be a major time saver when flying.

When using this information, you can immediately make sure that you are well on the right track to meeting the levels of expectation that you would desire. Indeed, you can very much use this to make flights more accurate and to meet time-sensitive objectives with ease.

Using FS Navigation Map

All you need to do, then, is to download the app onto your smartphone. Then, you need to make sure that you change your network port settings to open the port 27015. If this is blocked by your firewall for whatever reason, then you will need to make a change. Without the port being open then you have no means of connecting to both FS Navigation Map or any of the plugins that exist for it.

Speaking of the plugins, you should definitely consider picking up the X-Plane version of this mod, now free to use. All you need to do is unzip the files provided on the download page into the plugins folder of X-Plane and you should be able to use this. It already exists for FSX – just run the ModuleInstaller.exe file provided and this will do all of the installation for FSX for you without any additional input being needed on your end.

To actually use the system, you need to hit the ‘Start Server’ on the add-ons page on FSX, and once the server is started up you hit the Aircraft icon on the app. then you need to drop in your local IP address to the system, where FSX will be running.

For X-Plane, you simply turn this on by using the Aircraft icon on the app, and loading in your local IP address for the system that you are running X-Plane on.

If you are not sure of what your IP address is, then you can go to Command Prompt and type in /ipconfig all. This will give you the information that you need to get your local IP address. Then, you can fire this up and begin enjoying more enjoyable flights than ever before!

Please remember that this is only for simulated flight experiences and should never be used in a real-life flight event. This is built only for the use on a flight simulation event, not for any real-life or professional flights – under no circumstances should it be used in authentic flight scenarios.

Can FS Navigation map be used on a computer? Does it show other on-line pilots?
