This freeware release offers a meticulously recreated Boeing 747-122 complete with United Airlines’ distinctive livery from the early 1980s (registration N4713U). It seamlessly integrates Project Open Sky’s 747-200 v3 framework, showcasing highly detailed animations and reflective textures. Michael Pearson designed the repaint, capturing the polished metal surface and ensuring crisp, non-blurred visuals in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004.
Distinctive Heritage and Visual Appeal
United Airlines introduced this classic color scheme to celebrate a new era in transcontinental and international service. The Boeing 747-122 variant itself represents a pivotal chapter in wide-body jetliner evolution. This particular repaint incorporates 32-bit reflective textures, which amplify the metallic sheen and give the fuselage a realistic polish. Project Open Sky created the original base textures, while Michael Pearson enhanced the fidelity of each reflective panel for maximum authenticity.

Technical Highlights and Design Elements
Project Open Sky integrated a host of advanced features into this 747-200 v3 model. It includes maximum animation, such as a fully realized suspension system and articulated control segments. The 3D wheel modeling adds realism, and the dynamic flexing wings reflect aerodynamic stress in various flight conditions. Additionally, each texture part exhibits different levels of reflection to simulate the diverse materials found across the airframe.
Key Functionality
- Enhanced Shine: The aircraft’s exterior glimmers, thanks to dynamic reflections on the fuselage.
- Independent Suspension: Gear assemblies move independently to mirror real-world ground operations.
- Animated Surfaces: Flaps, spoilers, rudder, and elevators articulate in real time.
- Tilting Bogies and Rolling Wheels: Landing gear components pivot naturally during takeoff and landing sequences.
- High-Fidelity Flight Model: Proper FDE (Flight Dynamics Engine) parameters were tested by actual pilots to ensure accurate performance.
- Reflective Transparencies: thingypit windows and navigation light lenses have transparency and reflection layers, boosting immersion.
- Night Lighting: Complete illumination for nocturnal operations, including visible landing lights from within the flight deck.
- Door Animations: Passenger, cargo, and additional access points open based on preset key commands.
Installation Instructions
To incorporate this aircraft into your collection, simply extract the contents of the compressed folder and transfer the enclosed “Aircraft” directory into your FS2004 AIRCRAFT FOLDER. Make sure the file structure remains intact to preserve all vital data.

Sad it doesn't have an explosive decomp modeled in that would have been fun...
