This freeware package features EVA Air’s distinctive Boeing 747-45E (registration B-16409), offering simmers a highly detailed rendition of this iconic jetliner for use with Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004. It includes a full base model from Project Open Sky along with an accurate repaint by Vincent v/d Hof, giving enthusiasts an immersive wide-body experience complete with authentic animation and visual effects.

Historical Context And Exterior Refinements

Boeing’s 747-400 series, often called the “Queen of the Skies,” remains renowned for its extended range and larger winglets. EVA Air, a major carrier from Taiwan, operated various configurations of this aircraft, making B-16409 a notable example of long-haul service. In this package, users will find bespoke exterior textures developed by Project Open Sky, which highlight the airline’s color scheme. The repaint by Vincent v/d Hof extends across the fuselage with reflective surfaces, ensuring dynamic light interaction throughout different flight conditions.

Collaborative Development Team

Project Open Sky spearheaded the model design under the guidance of C. Vincent Cho, who also created the master textures. Warren C. Daniel drove the flight dynamics, with additional input from FDE advisors Nick Peterson and Simon Ng Hin Tat. Quality oversight was also performed by Simon Ng Hin Tat, and the aircraft underwent comprehensive testing by the Project Open Sky members. Meanwhile, the final paintwork was completed by Vincent v/d Hof, ensuring uniformity and alignment with the airline’s real-life presentation.

Technical Highlights And Animations

The aircraft’s detail level encompasses multiple specialized features:

  • Independently moving control surfaces for authentic aileron, elevator, and rudder behavior
  • Main gear steering and accurately animated suspensions for realistic ground handling
  • Fully functional passenger and cargo doors (including folding wing options for cargo variants)
  • Dynamic flexing of the wings to represent aerodynamic loads
  • Animated thrust reversers, spoiler deployment, and tilting main gear bogies
  • Reflective textures that vary in intensity based on specific materials
  • A fully tested FDE (flight dynamics engine) with proper wheel and strut profiles
  • Enhanced lighting systems, including illuminated landing beams visible from the cockpit
  • Nighttime textures and transparent navigation light covers for improved realism

Interior Focus

Reflective cockpit windows and functional flight deck viewpoints offer clear visibility throughout departure and arrival phases. Sim pilots will notice accurate spoiler animations, along with reversible thrust that aligns closely with reference data from real-world evaluations.

Implementation Details And Installation

  1. Extract the provided contents, then move the main aircraft folder into the “Aircraft” directory of your FS2004 (Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004) installation.

Reference the following commands while using the model:

Shift + E
Opens the primary passenger entryway.
Arrest hook
Activates the cargo bay door.
Folding Wing
Handles additional cargo door operations on combi and freighter variants.

This release is offered free of charge as a complete add-on, with every necessary component bundled. Developed by Project Open Sky and repainted by Vincent v/d Hof, it stands as a testament to collaborative simulation modeling and provides a unique opportunity to explore EVA Air’s 747 operations within Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004.
