This freeware repaint offers an authentic SAETA-themed Douglas DC-3 livery from around 1972 for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004. It requires the original DC-3 base model, which you can find in the Fly Away Simulation library. Included here are only the texture files, and it is essential to copy missing elements from a suitable default DC-3 setup. These textures were originally created for FSX by Alex Colka and subsequently converted for FS2004 by Serdar Badoglu.
Distinctive SAETA Livery Notes
This repaint reflects the classic scheme once sported by SAETA (Sociedad Anónima Ecuatoriana de Transportes Aéreos) when it operated this iconic propliner. The airline, based in Ecuador, was historically known for flying various domestic and international routes. This distinctive livery arguably pays tribute to the ongoing legacy of the Douglas DC-3, an aircraft that pioneered air travel standards in the 1930s and 1940s by combining efficiency with a comfortable cabin environment.

Livery Features
- Accurate fuselage striping consistent with SAETA’s 1970s color scheme.
- Engine cowling and fin detailing following the airline’s authentic markings.
- Realistic weathering elements to capture the genuine appearance of a well-maintained DC-3.
Installation Process
- Decompress all files into a temporary folder on your hard drive.
- Locate the default Douglas DC-3 folder within your simulator’s directory (often found at C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\Aircraft\Douglas_DC3).
- Move Texture.saeta into that DC-3 folder.
- If any texture files are missing, copy them from an existing “texture.x” folder belonging to another default DC-3 livery.
- Update your aircraft.cfg by placing the entry below in the correct location. Remember to replace “x” with the appropriate sequence number.
[fltsim.x] title=Douglas DC-3 Saeta sim=Douglas_DC3 model= panel= sound= texture=Saeta kb_checklists=Douglas_DC3_check kb_reference=Douglas_DC3_ref atc_id= atc_id_color=0x000000 ui_manufacturer=Douglas ui_type="DC-3 ui_variation="SAETA Ecuador" description="The Douglas DC-3 revolutionised air transportation and airline service during the 1930s and 1940s. It was a luxury airliner that boasted cabin heat and running water in its on-board lavatory. With the right balance of efficiency, range, speed, and payload, the DC-3 was the first aircraft to earn a profit for its owners just by carrying passengers. The hero of early airlines, a handful of DC-3s are still at work today."
Substitute “[fltsim.x]” with the correct entry number (for example, “[fltsim.3]” if it is your third listing). Upon completion, you will have a fully functional SAETA repaint for the timeless DC-3 model, ready for use in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004.
