FSX Clouds For Thermals

Distinctive Gmax-built cumulus clouds make thermals easy to spot by replacing the barely visible default birds when Natural thermal visualization is enabled in FSX. Includes four recognizable cloud scenery models chosen randomly per thermal and requires the included AirObjectVisuals.xml for correct in-sim behavior.

Cumulus clouds will replace the birds as the "natural" thermal visualization. Four Gmax generated scenery files for cumulus clouds and the required AirObjectVisuals.xml file are included. By Ed Dumas Sr.

These gmax generated clouds will mark thermals in FSX. There are four clouds that are quite distinctive and should be easy to recognize as not the usual FSX clouds. The photo, CloudsForThermals.jpg, shows their distinctive shapes. When the 'Natural' thermal visualization is selected these clouds will replace the default birds, which are nearly impossible to see.

Each thermal in FSX will have one cloud selected at random from the four available.

How to install this mod

FSX / P3D add-on
  1. Extract the downloaded archive

Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files.
  2. Place files per the readme

Most FSX add-ons go into one of: SimObjects\Airplanes\, Addon Scenery\, Effects\, or Gauges\.
  3. Always read the included readme

Every mod ships with a readme.txt or README file. It tells you exactly where files go, what dependencies are needed, and any quirks specific to this add-on.
