This repaint provides a faithful rendition of the distinctive AOPA 2007 Catch-A-Cardinal Sweepstakes color scheme for the payware Flight1 Cessna 177B. It is fully compatible with Microsoft Flight Simulator X and recreates the lively exterior markings seen on the original 1977 Cessna Cardinal. By Michael Mannschreck.

Livery Highlights and Aircraft Background

The Cessna 177B, sometimes referred to as the Cardinal, introduced a modern take on single-engine general aviation design. Its laminar-flow wings and refined aerodynamics set it apart from earlier models. With this add-on, enthusiasts can enjoy the actual AOPA Sweepstakes livery, distinguished by its well-documented refurbishment and meticulous exterior styling. The real N19880 featured improved avionics, reupholstered interiors, and a visually appealing paint scheme that gave it a special place in aviation enthusiasts’ hearts.

Unique Exterior Details

  • Inspired by the 2007 AOPA Catch-A-Cardinal event, this scheme includes carefully placed accents and titles.
  • Soft hues around the fuselage and tail create a realistic reflection of the original aircraft’s uniqueness.
  • Precise color matching to ensure authenticity in lighting transformations during varying simulator conditions.

Flight Model and Credits

The underlying flight characteristics reference work by Jerry Beckwith, bringing a realistic handling dynamic to this release. The repaint, crafted by Michael Mannschreck, demonstrates careful attention to historical accuracy and authentic color reproduction.

Cessna Cardinal Essence

Noted for its unobstructed cabin visibility and simplified maintenance requirements, the Cessna 177B marked a shift from conventional training aircraft. The design’s high-lift wing and low-drag profile make it popular among private pilots seeking a comfortable and efficient cross-country cruiser. This repaint retains the essence of the real-life N19880 that AOPA showcased during its promotional tours, including the faithful replication of sponsor logos and highlighting details.

Payware Model Requirement

Please remember that this texture package only offers the exterior repaint for the Flight1 model. The payware version of the Cessna 177B must be purchased separately, for example through places such as a recognized online store. Once you have the official product installed, these files integrate seamlessly, ensuring full compatibility in Microsoft Flight Simulator X.
