This freeware enhancement refines Asunción’s Silvio Pettirossi International Airport (SGAS) within Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 by expanding taxiway dimensions, refining aircraft parking positions, and optimizing runway data so AI traffic can operate without congestion. Developed by Karl F. Hajek, this AFCAD2 file adds more realism and supports wider aircraft types, making it easier to simulate real-world carriers flying into Paraguay.
Enhanced Layout for Efficient Traffic
Many default airports in this simulator fall short on realistic space for large airliners and busy schedules. This update resolves those constraints by allocating additional parking ramps and refining ground paths, which in turn reduces potential bottlenecks for commercial traffic. Even though it is not guaranteed to match every tiny detail found in reality, it incorporates runway and navigational specifics obtained from official sources.
Improved Facilities for Silk-Smooth Operations
Through meticulous modifications, gates and parking locations now accommodate the variety of jets that frequent Asunción, including wide-body aircraft. These changes optimize routing for AI traffic, reflecting actual airline operations. Expect to see more activity with carriers that serve Paraguay in real life, creating a more immersive simulation experience.
Key Installation Steps
- Unzip the AF2_SGAS.bgl file into the “Addon Scenery\Scenery” folder located in your primary Flight Simulator 9 directory.
- Launch your simulator, allowing the scenery database to refresh automatically.
Upon completion, aircraft movements should be significantly improved at SGAS. This file remains freeware, and Karl F. Hajek welcomes flight sim enthusiasts to explore the airport under more lifelike conditions — featuring better taxi flows, accurate runway data, and a more faithful representation of Paraguay’s chief international gateway.
