Editorial
If you’ve ever spent much time watching any kind of US war movie since the 1950s, you will have no doubt come across this absolute behemoth of an aircraft. With more than 2,500 of them still in existence this is the kind of aircraft that everyone loves to see, as it’s got such a distinct military look and feel to it.
With four engines propping it up and giving you that real energizing feel you always get with military-based aviation equipment, you’ll immediately find yourself taken into the hypnotic way that it moves. As a massive fan of this aircraft in real life, I can safely say that this remake does it incredible levels of justice!
Typically used to carry troops and made for using normally unsuitable takeoff points for quick and effective movement to and from various locations, this aircraft is the very definition of versatile. It’s been used to get troops medical staff, air refuels and even cargo brought from one side of the world to the next and thanks to its strength and power as an aircraft it’s capable of taking multiple hits from enemy fire, as well.
Being able to hop in and use the realistic dynamics and cockpit of this thing, built with hours of footage and pages of data as a reference, is a truly wonderful feeling. Just having control of such a massively powerful and important piece of aviation equipment is something to enjoy on its own, making it so much easier to just race through the skies without the usual challenges that come along with doing so.
The thing I loved most about this remake, though, was the attention to detail on the design. Although performance and realism is spot on within the aircraft itself I found myself far more drawn to the charming nature of the aircraft itself thanks to the sheer realism within every aspect of its shape and its style. They got the scale perfectly as well as the depth and realism of the textures – in every aspect, this captures the story and style of the aircraft in the most perfect manner possible.
There is just something so enjoyable about being able to hop into the cockpit of something like this and get to actually try it out – given their incredibly popular style with various air forces al across the world; they are an aircraft that everyone who has an interest in military aviation should try out as soon as they possibly can.
It’s something that you can very easily get to grips with, and it has quickly established itself as one of my go-to aircraft when I fancy something that is a fine mix between a military model and a civilian model. It might not come equipped with firepower and other usual necessities on anything within a warzone but it comes with so much depth and power that you can easily enjoy that side of things even more than you would if it was equipped with the kind of firepower that you might have been expecting.

Okay, it was free. It has potential. It has a lot of room for growth. The VC is not. I didn't typo that. It's not. It is a four turbine stick and rudder with no useful controls or instrumentation. I have thousands of hours in sims and hundreds of IRL.
This was a good attempt for an absolute basic aircraft, but it has fewer inputs than a J-3 Cub. Although, I DID actually install without much issue. I flew one pattern around Wright-Patterson and that was enough. That oscillating engine sound, arghhhh.
