FSX Default Cessna 208 Caravan New FDE

FSX’s default Cessna 208 Caravan gains a refined flight dynamics package with a more convincing PT6 turboprop engine simulation, delivering smoother handling and more believable power response across the envelope. The update replaces the aircraft configuration and installs a new airfile, and repaints may require updating to reference the new file.

Flight Simulator X Prepar3D

This new FDE includes an improved flight model plus a much improved PT6 simulation. By Bernt Stolle.

1. Back up the original aircraft.cfg file.
2. Replace the aircraft.cfg file in the Cessna 208 aircraft folder.
3. Copy the C208_ng.air file into the Cessna 208 aircraft folder.
[ Attention ]
4. If you have additional repaints you need them to point to the new C208_ng.air file!
5. Suggest to rename the original 208 air file.
[ If you don't and you add repaints you might end up using the original airfile ]

How to install this mod

FSX / P3D aircraft

Extract the downloaded archive

Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files.
Copy aircraft files into SimObjects

Place the aircraft folder inside FSX\SimObjects\Airplanes\. The folder must contain an aircraft.cfg file. Effects go into FSX\Effects\; gauges go into FSX\Gauges\.
Verify in FSX

Launch FSX, go to Free Flight → Select Aircraft and find your new aircraft under its manufacturer.
