Experience a meticulously refined tri-jet simulation with this Air New Zealand Douglas DC-10-30 (ZKNZL) developed by SGA and repainted by Frank Idone. Building upon the robust foundations of earlier releases, this variant integrates dynamic wing structures and enhanced aerodynamics that capture the nuances of the real-world aircraft’s behavior throughout various flight conditions.
Key Structural Advancements
One standout engineering element is the newly introduced Dynamic Flexing Wings. These wings adjust organically in response to phase of flight and turbulence, reflecting authentic deflection during takeoff rolls, airborne maneuvers, and heavier landings. The DC-10-30, in particular, benefits from an extended wingspan—approximately 10 feet more than earlier variants—and a center main landing gear assembly designed to distribute increased operating weights.
Realigned Flight Dynamics
In collaboration with an experienced DC-10 pilot, SGA fine-tuned the flight envelope to replicate realistic handling profiles. Engine outputs, roll rates, and pitch tendencies have all been carefully calibrated, ensuring the simulator accurately matches the aircraft’s tri-engine performance. This approach offers a more faithful depiction of takeoff thrust requirements, climb rates, and landing behaviors, suitable for flight sim enthusiasts seeking authenticity.
Notable Airline Background
Air New Zealand historically operated wide-body tri-jet aircraft, and the DC-10-30 was a pivotal part of its fleet for long-haul services. The Air New Zealand livery presented here features distinctive markings and registry ZKNZL. This particular repaint showcases the airline’s classic branding, reflecting the stylish design customary during the DC-10's operational era.
Installation Steps
- Unzip the package directly into your existing FS2004 Aircraft folder.
- Locate your aircraft.cfg file within the DC-10 folder.
- Insert the provided
[fltsim.X]
entry, adjusting X to match the next available number in your configuration.
This add-on requires the base package SGA1030.ZIP to function correctly.

description=Model by SGA, Air New Zealand repaint by Frank Idone. The Series 30 offered considerably improved payload and range capability with increased fuel capacity and thrust, which necessitated an increase of 10 feet in wingspan and the addition of a center main landing gear assembly. Most popular of all the variants, a total of 206 Series 30s were built, including 27 -30CFs, 4 extended range -30ERs, and 12 pure freighter -30Fs. Unlike the Series 10, most -30s were ordered without the optional lower deck galley to allow increased cargo capacity. First revenue flight for a Series 30ER was on December 15, 1972 with Swissair. The Series 30CF (Convertible Freighter) was first certified in March 1973 and placed into revenue service in April 1973.
