Editorial

As far as simplistic changes and additions go, this pack is a very easy sell. The original Boeing 737-800 that is provided with FSX is quite impressive and looks great, but it’s missing a little bit of the soul and style that usually comes with an FSX aircraft. This package, though, amends this in no time at all. It adds a bit more flavor to the original textures by replacing them with the Garuda Indonesia designs, making it very easy for those who want to fly this specific brand of the aircraft and see the changes in the design quality.

These textures easily outstrip the old ones, for a start. They are well designed and the work done by Jonathan Hartana and Tri Wasono is very impressive – it captures the inner details of both the logos and the overall painting style perfectly, with the colors and the shades spot in any comparison to the real thing. This makes everything just feel a bit more comfortable, and really brings the entire thing together in a manner that you really do need to pay attention to.

These textures alone make a nice change to the default B737-800 aircraft that is included in the simulator so if you are looking for a total remake you will need to go elsewhere as this only affects the actual model rather than adjust or edit dynamics or anything else. Therefore, it’s a very simplistic and rather basic change to your FSX, but not every mod you download is going to make adjustments to everything – sometimes, a simple change is all that you need to make the simulation feel a bit fresher than it was in the past.

It’s very easy to install, too, taking a matter of minutes to put it all in place. For a simple and small package it really is very well designed and handheld. It delivers a huge range of different qualities within the textures, too, so it’s a very effective design all around. The little touches in the paintwork and the quality of the design on the textures minor details all really stand out thanks to the high resolution that they have been created at.

In general, it all comes together and looks far more effective and dynamic than it would have if you just stuck with the original models artwork that comes originally in FSX, making it look much more realistic.

The realism is a big thing for me and even smaller mods like this help me to achieve that aim of total control and realism. The quality of the textures alone makes it so much easier to install packages like this as you know it’s just going to be a big improvement over the old one – this is more than just a livery change, it really does freshen up the textures and make them look a fair bit better than they did in the past

It’s an easy mod to use and it’s a very simplistic one, too – but sometimes, being simple is the best choice you can make!
