This freeware release introduces a detailed IFR high-speed, low-level military training flight plan set in the airspace surrounding Wilder, Idaho. It is specifically modified for Microsoft Flight Simulator X, ensuring that virtual pilots can thoroughly explore the demanding terrain across this scenic portion of the state. Developed by Bill McClellan, it integrates unique technical features designed to enhance realism for those who enjoy practicing fast jet or bomber operations.

Highlighted Flight Route Characteristics

The OB-1 Wilder Idaho flight plan offers pilots an opportunity to conduct rapid, low-altitude navigation in challenging conditions. By emphasizing Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) structure, it replicates authentic military training profiles, making it an ideal choice for enthusiasts flying aircraft such as the B-52, F-111, B-1B, B-2, A-6, A-4, or even the Avro Vulcan. Of course, any aircraft type may be substituted based on personal preference.

Regional Terrain Insights

Wilder, situated in southwestern Idaho, showcases varied topography featuring valleys and rolling hills. When flying fast and low, there is added excitement derived from navigating these natural contours, effectively simulating real-world high-speed runs. Engaging with the intense geography demonstrates the nuanced handling requirements of larger bombers and nimble fighter jets alike.

Included Gauges for Enhanced Operations

This package integrates two custom gauges by Karol Chlebowski, both designed to elevate the precision of terrain-hugging missions:

  • TFR (Terrain Following Radar): A specialized system for maintaining controlled altitude above ground level.
  • Pave Tack: A sophisticated solution that incorporates bombing, navigation, and reconnaissance capabilities into one streamlined interface.

Incorporating these gauges enables an immersive approach to complex flight paths, particularly when training under low-level, high-speed conditions.

Optional Expanded Mini Panel

For added customization, version 2.1 of the mini panel supports further enhancements, bundling the functionality of Karol Chlebowski’s gauges alongside additional flight data displays. Look for both FSX_ANALOG_MINIPANEL_V2_1.ZIP and FSX_GLASSMINIPANEL_V2_1.ZIP to fully explore these extra features and expand your cockpit environment.
