FSX Boeing 274D

Boeing 274D brings a classic Boeing 247D-era twin to FSX with SP2-ready refinements, offering passenger, fictional freight, and military C-73 variants across five liveries plus clean white paint bases. Updated props, smoke effects, thumbnails, and contact points are included, and it uses the default DC-3 sounds with 2D panel and gauges.

Flight Simulator X Prepar3D

Boeing 274D. FSX SP2 compatible update of Dee Waldron's freeware Boeing 247D. Includes a passenger version, a fictional freight version, and a military C-73 version, in five liveries and also including blank white flyable passenger and freight models for those who like to paint. With FSX-SP2 compatible props, smoke, thumbnails, and landing gear contact points. Uses the default DC-3 sound and 2D panel and gauges. Includes the original rudimentary VC (with no gauges, as they will not show up in FSX). Blank paintable models have re-aligned fuselage skin seams that precisely match from texture to texture to make repainting a breeze. Easy installation. Compiled by Tom Tiedman.

Dee Waldron, for a Boeing 247D that really grew on me, and the graciousness to allow this compilation. At his request, his original read-me is included, but on my computer, it could only be opened using Microsoft word. Tom Tiedman.

INSTALLATION:

1.) Copy and paste the enclosed "fx_smoke_f6" file into your FSX "Effects" folder. (It is probably there already).

2.) Copy and paste (or drag and drop) the entire enclosed "Boeing 247D (FSX-SP2)" folder into you FSX "Airplanes" folder.

3.) Press your "I" key while flying your 247D and enjoy the smokey ride! (The [SMOKESYSTEM] info. is already pre-installed inside the "aircraft.cfg" file).

How to install this mod

FSX / P3D aircraft

  1. Extract the downloaded archive

    Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files.

  2. Copy aircraft files into SimObjects

    Place the aircraft folder inside FSX\SimObjects\Airplanes\. The folder must contain an aircraft.cfg file. Effects go into FSX\Effects\; gauges go into FSX\Gauges\.

  3. Verify in FSX

    Launch FSX, go to Free Flight → Select Aircraft and find your new aircraft under its manufacturer.

  4. Always read the included readme

    Every mod ships with a readme.txt or README file. It tells you exactly where files go, what dependencies are needed, and any quirks specific to this add-on.
