Experience an immersive low-level training flight plan crafted for high-speed operations in the vicinity of Richmond, Kentucky. Arranged specifically for pilots drawn to challenging routes, it offers a realism-focused Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) scenario. Suited to heavy bombers and fast jets, it integrates advanced gauges for enhanced terrain-following techniques, navigation, and more—perfect for those who enjoy simulating precision military maneuvers in Microsoft Flight Simulator X.
High-Speed Military Training Path Near Richmond, KY
This route is the second entry in a specialized series put together by Bill McClellan. It circles through strategic airspace at low altitude, ensuring that aviators can test their skills in various operations. Whether you fly a B-52, an F-111, a B-1B, a B-2, an A6, an A4, a Vulcan, or another jet in your hangar, you’ll find the flight plan accommodates distinct mission profiles. The entire path focuses on maintaining realistic IFR protocols, putting your maneuvering abilities under rigorous scrutiny from takeoff to completion.
Key Technical Additions
Within this package, you will find two essential gauges developed by Karol Chlebowski—a specialized Terrain Following Radar (TFR) instrument and a Pave Tack system. The TFR gauge assists in holding a stable low-altitude flight path over varied terrain, while Pave Tack provides extra functions for targeting, bombing runs, and reconnaissance. Together, these extras open up a sophisticated range of strategic capabilities and give flight sim enthusiasts a heightened sense of realism.
Optional Minipanel Expansion
For those pilots who want further performance data and additional cockpit functionality, the author also recommends downloading version 2.1 of the mini panel (files named FSX_ANALOG_MINIPANEL_V2_1.ZIP or FSX_GLASSMINIPANEL_V2_1.ZIP). These upgrades incorporate everything from advanced flight instrumentation to more comprehensive readouts that complement the TFR and Pave Tack gauges. They serve as a cohesive option to manage your cockpit flow while navigating this low-altitude corridor.

Why This Route Stands Out
Richmond KY’s geography and the designated flight levels amplify the sense of authentic military practice, especially when flying large strategic bombers like the B-52 or more agile aircraft like the F-111. The dynamic terrain layout along this corridor further challenges pilots to maintain precise alignment with IFR standards, making it an excellent environment to employ TFR systems. With the added Pave Tack gauge, you can also experiment with reconnaissance methods and target acquisition functionality.
About the Developers
This installation is assembled and provided by Bill McClellan, whose presence in the flight simulation community is longstanding and well-respected. The included gauges by Karol Chlebowski boost the realism of the flight plan, granting simmers access to terrain-following applications and multi-role target management. By combining these contributions, the add-on delivers an engaging scenario tailored for pilots who crave technical depth in every sortie.
