Flight Simulator X Prepar3D

Experience a meticulously designed IFR military training path across the Bismarck region in North Dakota, prepared for high-speed and low-level operations. Developed by Bill McClellan, this is the eleventh installment in an evolving line of specialized flight plans. It traverses mild plains and rolling landscapes, making it particularly suitable for tactical bomber or fighter sorties in Microsoft Flight Simulator X.

Bismarck ND Low-Altitude Route (OB-24) and Its Purpose

This OB-24 corridor features an IFR high-speed, low-altitude structure intended for realistic simulation of military-style flight operations. North Dakota’s grassy terrain provides moderate elevation changes, allowing you to practice swift transitions. Additionally, two separate target zones are included within the route, enabling varied mission scenarios that frequently involve target reconnaissance and bombing practice.

Applicable Aircraft for Immersive Sorties

Enthusiasts of strategic and tactical aviation will find this route ideal for large-platform bombers such as the B-52, F-111, B-1B, and B-2. If you prefer smaller, more maneuverable jets, aircraft like the A6, A4, and Vulcan are highly recommended. However, the plan also accommodates other aircraft variants, so any virtual pilot can select a preferred platform and explore these demanding profiles.

Advanced Gauges by Karol Chlebowski

Included are two extremely useful gauges courtesy of Karol Chlebowski. The TFR (Terrain-Following Radar) gauge supports safe handling during ultra-low runs by monitoring elevation data. Meanwhile, Pave Tack brings multifaceted navigation and reconnaissance features, enabling you to mark specific objective areas and carry out bombing practice with higher precision. These enhancements greatly strengthen pilot awareness and control, especially within rapid low-level flight corridors.

Optional Mini Panel (v2.1)

For additional situational awareness, the v2.1 mini panel (also referenced by Bill McClellan) effectively consolidates these capabilities into one interface. It integrates TFR, navigation elements, and targeting systems in one place. While it is an optional component, it typically streamlines the cockpit workflow for those who prefer condensed panels during complex maneuvers.

Bismarck Airspace and Surroundings

Situated along the Missouri River, Bismarck serves as a regional transport hub for North Dakota. Its environment, featuring open farmland and moderate rolling hills, is well suited to conducting supersonic practice runs or swift terrain-following flights. With this carefully arranged flight plan, you can experience a balanced training experience that emphasizes tracking, turning, and altitude management over sparse but topology-rich plains.
