This freeware add-on provides a refined AFCAD file for EDXO (St. Peter-Ording Airfield) in the German region of Schleswig-Holstein. It improves AI traffic handling and accessibility within Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004. Created by Frank Bohrnsen, it allows virtual pilots to incorporate EDXO into custom flight plans and enhances overall operations for both departing and arriving aircraft.

St. Peter-Ording Airfield in Coastal Germany

St. Peter-Ording sits in the northern reaches of Germany, close to the scenic coastline. Its relatively small runway typically supports a range of general aviation activities and offers an authentic experience for those looking to replicate local flying conditions. With this particular AFCAD adaptation, the airfield welcomes AI aircraft, making the surroundings livelier and more representative of real-world north German airspace.

AFCAD Adjustments and AI Implementation

This enhancement focuses on enabling AI traffic at EDXO. Through these specialized AFCAD files, you can schedule virtual flights that depart from or arrive at this coastal location. All elements remain compatible with a default Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 installation. However, if you are using custom scenery, the included layouts may need additional tweaking to avoid overlapping buildings or ground markings. (AFCAD files are data layouts that define airport infrastructure, including taxiways and runways).

Included Components

  • EDXO-St Peter Ording.bgl
Introduces a tower and AI functionality at EDXO, guiding automated traffic in and out of the airfield.
  • TrafficEDXO.bgl
Schedules a Piper 180 to fly a regular timetable every two hours from EDXO to EDHK (Kiel-Holtenau) and return, thereby providing a realistic traffic flow.
  • EDXO-readme.txt
  • EDXO-liesmich.txt

Suggestions and Compatibility

All files were prepared using baseline simulator data without additional scenery packs. If objects from third-party airport add-ons appear misplaced, adjustments can be made to the AFCAD layout. You are encouraged to reach out to Frank Bohrnsen for refinements or any insight into performance updates. By integrating these files thoughtfully, you will achieve a more vibrant environment and gain a faithful representation of general aviation traffic across Schleswig-Holstein’s skies.
