FSX South African Air Force Vickers Viscount 700

South African Air Force Vickers Viscount 700 textures recreate aircraft 150, c/n 280, for VIP and transport operations with period-correct markings and squadron identity, ideal for historical flights. Designed for FSX, the repaint requires Jens B. Kristensen’s Vickers Viscount 700D base package and integrates cleanly with the existing virtual cockpit and model.

South African Air Force Vickers Viscount 700, c/n 280 V.781D. Delivered to the SAAF, 28 Squadron on 16 June 1958 carrying a large consignment of airframe spare parts. A lot of these parts were never used and were discovered in a stockists inventory in the UK in 2010 and are now being used to restore museum Viscounts around the world. On 1 February 1968 to 21 Squadron and then to 44 Squadron on 28 October 1983 where it continued operation as a VIP transport aircraft until withdrawn from use in September 1991. It was sold in September 1991 to Bazair and exported as 9Q-CWL. It crashed on 6 June 1997, killing all 23 on board in the DRC. These are texture files only. Prior installation of Jens B. Requires dependencies

This add-on may require the following files to function properly. If this is a repaint, the dependency below is likely the base aircraft package.

How to install this mod

FSX / P3D add-on
  1. Extract the downloaded archive

Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files.
  2. Place files per the readme

Most FSX add-ons go into one of: SimObjects\Airplanes\, Addon Scenery\, Effects\, or Gauges\.
  3. Always read the included readme

Every mod ships with a readme.txt or README file. It tells you exactly where files go, what dependencies are needed, and any quirks specific to this add-on.

Vickers Viscount V781D was my favourite aircraft growing up.

I flew South African Airways from FAJS to FADN numerous times to vacation with my maternal grandparents from Umkomaas, KZN, ZA.

I last flew in a Viscount from Victoria Falls to Wankie (Hangwe) Zimbabwe/Rhodesia in 1978. She is still the Queen of the Skies, and ought to be resurrected for regional airlines.
