Flight Simulator X Prepar3D

This freeware add-on provides a fictional American Pacific Airways repaint for the default Boeing 747-400 in Microsoft Flight Simulator X. It stems from the original FS2004 American Pacific livery, which was not bundled with the aircraft upon its initial retail release, and it also includes a custom splash screen. Created by Victor Vu, this repaint requires the freeware base model available in the Fly Away Simulation library.

Heritage of the 747-400 and American Pacific Airways

The Boeing 747-400, often admired as the “Queen of the Skies,” offers a classic wide-body design that has been a mainstay in both real-world operations and simulation environments for decades. Although American Pacific Airways is a fictional carrier carried over from FS2004, many virtual flyers enjoy this distinctive livery as it evokes a classic era of airline branding. Its vivid color palette stands out on the 747-400—a well-known aircraft symbolizing range and capacity milestones in aviation history.

Key Technical Notes on the New Livery

  • Accurate Integration: The texture set incorporates the original FS2004 American Pacific design details, adapted carefully for the FSX default 747 model.
  • Enhanced Visuals: The repaint highlights unique decal placements and signage to ensure an immersive airline identity within the simulator.
  • Splash Screen Addition: A custom splash screen reflecting American Pacific Airways imagery is bundled, complementing the visual experience.

Installation Steps for a Seamless Setup

  1. Locate the Texture.APA folder included with this package and place it into your default B747_400 aircraft directory.

  3. Go to the default B737_800 aircraft folder and access the aircraft.cfg file. (Be sure to edit in a way that does not affect other entries.)
  4. Before reaching the [GENERAL] section, paste the copied content. Adjust the “x” placeholder in the [fltsim.x] entry to a unique number not already in use, such as [fltsim.7] or higher.
