Experience a fictional KLM Cityhopper repaint for the Bombardier CRJ-700 in Microsoft Flight Simulator X, crafted by Victor Vu. This freeware package gives virtual aviators a re-envisioned perspective on KLM’s regional fleet, incorporating an aircraft type that was never part of actual Cityhopper operations. Nonetheless, it retains the essence of KLM’s well-known styling while offering a new custom splash screen designed by the creator.
Distinctive Livery Refinements
This repaint portrays a KLM Cityhopper scheme adapted to the twin-engined CRJ-700 (a regional jet with [turbofan engines] typically used on short to medium routes). Despite being fictional, it features hallmark blue fuselage elements and tail markings that replicate KLM’s standard branding in a modernized way. The real-world Cityhopper division generally employs Embraer frames for commuter flights, but this alternate scenario adds a unique flair to simulator experiences.
Core Visual Highlights
- High-Resolution Textures: Detailed external graphics mapped seamlessly to the CRJ-700 surfaces.
- Fictional Airline Markings: Tail insignia and fuselage lettering that capture the signature KLM style.
- Immersive Splash Screen: An exclusive startup image reflecting the KLM Cityhopper reinterpretation within FSX.
Integration Guidelines
This repaint depends on the default Bombardier_CRJ_700 model, which you can find as a stock aircraft within Microsoft Flight Simulator X. It does not include the baseline files by itself, so you must ensure the default aircraft is already installed.
Step-by-Step Installation
- Extract and place the Texture.KLC_Old folder into the main Bombardier_CRJ_700 directory.
- Open the provided installation text file and copy all contained entries.
- Locate and edit the aircraft.cfg within the same CRJ-700 folder. Insert the copied lines before the [GENERAL] section.
- Replace the x in [fltsim.x] with the next available number (such as [fltsim.4] or higher).
- Launch FSX, select “Bombardier” under the aircraft manufacturer, and look for the KLM Cityhopper (Old) variant in free flight.
What to Expect In-Flight
Once loaded, the CRJ-700 will reflect a distinct KLM Cityhopper identity not found in reality. Regional hops feel more authentic with the repainted exterior, and the modified splash screen adds extra immersion every time you run FSX. This package stands as a tribute to creative exploration within flight simulation.
Additional Remarks
This freeware modification, developed by Victor Vu, expands your regional jet collection in Microsoft Flight Simulator X without altering default flight models or instrumentation. Be sure to confirm that all relevant texture references and configuration entries are correctly saved, ensuring the repaint appears properly.
Remember, you can download the necessary base package from the Fly Away Simulation library. This fictional KLM Cityhopper scheme captures a fresh twist on regional service, even though KLM did not operate Bombardier CRJs in its real fleet.
