This fictional repaint showcases a Boeing 737-800 painted in the newly introduced KLM Cityhopper style. Although the real KLM Cityhopper fleet operates Embraer 190 and Fokker 70 aircraft—and currently has no 737s—this livery interprets how a 737 might appear under the same design philosophy. The repaint references the single demonstrator currently wearing KLM Cityhopper’s updated scheme (PH-EXD on an Embraer model). Created by Elmar Westra, it requires the freeware Tenkuu Developers Studio (TDS) Boeing 737-800 base pack, which can be obtained from the Fly Away Simulation library. This repaint is offered as freeware.

Key Visual Features & Enhancements

  • 32-bit texturing: Provides crisp, high-resolution surfaces that highlight the airline’s blue-and-white contrast.
  • Opening doors and cargo bays: Gives you the ability to simulate complete ground-handling procedures.
  • Advanced animations: Incorporates dynamically flexing wings that respond to turbulence, along with gear steering and trim functions.
  • Shine and effects: Realistic lighting and reflections add depth and complement the distinctive KLM Cityhopper markings.
  • Accurate flying characteristics: Reflects the short-to-medium range performance inherent to Boeing’s third-generation 737 design, often referred to as the Next Generation (NG).

Installation Steps & Aircraft.cfg Entry

  1. Extract the downloaded archive.
  2. Locate the folder named Texture.KLM_PH-BCG and place it inside your TDS 737-800 directory (ensure you have the TDS Boeing 737-800 base model installed beforehand).
  3. Open aircraft.cfg in a text editor, then append the following lines (replacing “XX” with the next sequential number in your configuration):

description=The Boeing 737NG is Boeing’s third generation of the 737 family. It first flew in 1996 and entered service in 1998, featuring improved aerodynamics, updated engines, and modern avionics. This series accommodates between 110 and 210 passengers in a short-to-medium range capacity. It is also offered in specialized variants such as cargo, quick convertibles, maritime patrol configurations, military airborne radar, and a business jet edition. Over 4,500 737NG aircraft have been delivered globally.

Note: Modify the [fltsim.XX] value to match your existing entries. Remember that this download provides only the repaint; the base pack from Tenkuu Developers Studio (TDS) is essential. This repaint functionally works in several simulators, including Microsoft Flight Simulator X, and is thoroughly tested for stable performance.

This KLM Cityhopper concept offers a unique way to imagine the 737-800 in the distinctive cityhopper livery, expanding your virtual airline's scope. Acknowledgments to Tenkuu Developers Studio for the original aircraft model and Elmar Westra for crafting this fictitious yet visually appealing paint scheme.

Requires dependencies

This add-on may require the following files to function properly. If this is a repaint, the dependency below is likely the base aircraft package.

How to install this mod

FSX / P3D aircraft
  1. Extract the downloaded archive

Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files.
  2. Copy aircraft files into SimObjects

Place the aircraft folder inside FSX\SimObjects\Airplanes\. The folder must contain an aircraft.cfg file. Effects go into FSX\Effects\; gauges go into FSX\Gauges\.
  3. Verify in FSX

Launch FSX, go to Free Flight → Select Aircraft and find your new aircraft under its manufacturer.
  4. Always read the included readme

Every mod ships with a readme.txt or README file. It tells you exactly where files go, what dependencies are needed, and any quirks specific to this add-on.
