Editorial

Having not had the pleasure of using a proper mod in FS2004 for ages, I decided to fire up this mod and try it out; after all, what could be more fun than cruising through the skies in a RAF Tornado? As a Brit myself, I had a huge amount of interest in trying out one of the most famous aviation creations to ever leave this isle, and decided to download this to see what I would make of it.

Preview screenshot

Once thing that really impressed me about it from the offset was the depth of detail – for a mod for FS2004, it sure looks excellent. It comes with specific squad markings that look excellent and really make the whole thing come together in one place, ensuring they carry that right level of character. It also comes with plenty of loadouts in terms of the aircraft itself, giving you an easy way to fly an aircraft that is ready for war or just for normal flights.

It also comes with many useful features such as the addition of interior and exterior lighting to make your life a bit easier. The original models were a tad short in terms of visibility so this makes a truly exceptional difference. The model design, by Andrew Tunley, is one of the finest additions of this kind that I’ve seen for some time.

The flight dynamics, though, are just as impressive; this flies in line with the real thing. If you are looking for a way to enjoy aviation in the right kind of manner and thinking, then starting here might be a smart idea. It’s got awesome control of the aircraft and makes sure that it flies with a level of stability that can be quite hard to come across.

I was hugely impressed by the work put into the overall detail of the program. Not only does it look exceptional, but it does everything that it can to make sure you can fly it with a bit of realism. If you have ever had the pleasure of flying a Tornado in real-life (lucky you!) then this is definitely a model to think about trying out.

So, from the looks to the performance I can only be positive about this add-on. It looks spectacular, carries the real depth and care of the real thing whilst making sure you can get plenty from each flight. It’s easy to fly and maneuver for a warplane but it also brings to life those various features such as the little markings that make the Tornado stand out from the crowd.

Despite being a pacifist I had huge fun taking off into the skies with this mod – what about you?
