Bob Hope Airport (KBUR) for Burbank, California brings a sharper, more operationally realistic airfield to Microsoft Flight Simulator X with updated ground layout, expanded gates and ramp space, corrected taxiway geometry, and accurate signage. Choose standard or crosswind runway behavior, plus improved service roads, vehicle paths, streamlined fuel services, a helipad, and a tower view positioned on the real structure.
Experience a refined rendition of Bob Hope Airport (KBUR) in Burbank, California, meticulously adjusted for Microsoft Flight Simulator X. This scenery package, crafted by Ray Smith, provides both standard and crosswind-enabled runway configurations while enhancing ground layouts, gate assignments, and support vehicle paths. Enjoy accurate taxiway signage, correctly labeled stands, and an added helipad, all while benefiting from streamlined fuel services and reworked service roads.
Both included BGL configurations focus on precise runway utilization. One version activates the crosswind capability, ensuring runways operate simultaneously for takeoffs and landings. The alternate file keeps the airport true to default runway procedures. Each approach is fine-tuned to sustain steady traffic flow without compromising smooth operations.
Ray Smith has allocated additional gates, enlarged ramp space, and clearly labeled parking spots. These modifications accommodate a broader range of aircraft while reflecting the real-world layout. Multiple service vehicles move efficiently along optimized paths, encouraging a more dynamic ground environment.
Taxiways D8 and BB have been corrected for optimal alignment, and updated signage has been put in place so you can navigate consistently. Having precise directions not only minimizes congestion but also instills a sense of authenticity as you maneuver around Bob Hope Airport’s concourse and apron areas.
This update places the tower viewpoint on the actual structure, granting more immersive visibility of airport traffic. By assigning a dedicated key or control button to the “View track/pan Toggle,” you can unlock your perspective to observe activity around Burbank’s bustling ramps and runways. Simply revert that control input to return focus to your aircraft.
Note: Only one KBUR BGL file should be active at a time. Retain a single file in your “Addon Scenery/scenery” folder to avoid any conflicts. Should you opt for the crosswind variant, you might encounter references to placeholder runways in ATIS communications. This aspect is a result of the unique crosswind activation method pioneered by Jim Vile and can be safely disregarded if desired.
To revert to the default airport, simply remove or delete the corresponding BGL file from the “Addon Scenery/scenery” folder. The simulator will then load the original layout.
Ray Smith employed the ADE [Airport Design Editor] developed by Jon Masterson to create these updated BGL files. Acknowledgment also goes to Jim Vile for pioneering the technique allowing simultaneous use of crosswind runways. This freeware package aims to reflect the dynamic nature of Bob Hope Airport and foster a more authentic experience within your flight simulator environment.
Enjoy your flights in and out of Burbank, and be sure to explore every refined detail of this carefully crafted scenery. Happy flying!

Could you possibly enlighten me on what "one with the crosswind runway in operation and one without" means? I suppose I'm dumb but I can't figure this one out at all.
