The MD-81/82 Jetliner is a DVD-ROM add-on, compatible with Microsoft Flight Simulator X. This particular plane is an offshoot of the DC-9 airliner and designed for short to mid-length flights. It has rear-mounted jet engines, a T-Tail and thin fuselage. Chances are, if you have ever been to the airport, you have seen this plane. They can be found in all parts of the world.
Commercial Level Simulations designed this model. It is very accurate, contains a great deal of detail and is attractive looking. There are also a pretty impressive number of liveries, 15 in all.
The MD-81-82 Jetliner has a pretty long list of features. The exterior model has a great deal of detail. Its Pushback truck can be switched both off and on. This particular add-on includes dynamic wing flex and aircraft stairs. The cockpit is 3D and interactive. The 2D panel is complete with gauges that are custom. The MD-81/82 Jetliner also has a good selection of animations, manuals and flight tutorials.
The special effects are pretty cool as well. Smoke escapes when the engine starts and when the plane touchdowns. If the pilot over-rotates, sparks come out from the underbelly. The plane also includes inspection lights and special effects when the rubber from the tires burns.
The MD-81/82 Jetliner’s panel and Virtual Cockpit features are pretty impressive as well. It has a 2C instrument panel, full analogue pilot (including co-pilot) panels.
There are 15 liveries included in this package. They are the AeroMexico Normal, Viking, Aero Republica Colombia, TransWorld Airlines, Alitalia, SpainAir, Burkina, SAS, China Eastern, Martinair, Continental, Jets Go, Delta, Iberia and Finnair.
The MD-81/82 is a neat little add-on. It is an accurate model with loads of details and features, special effects and 15 authentic liveries. It is moderately priced, user friendly and fun to tinker around with.
