SAS McDonnell Douglas MD-81
FSX SAS McDonnell Douglas MD-81 package v1. A McDonnell Douglas MD-81 updated…
Fixes the Rob McAlister McDonnell Douglas MD-81 and MD-88 package for FSX by correcting contact points so both aircraft sit properly on the runway and by relocating engine smoke to the engines using updated [SMOKESYSTEM] entries and the fx_smoke_f6 effect; requires the original MD-81/MD-88 models installed.
McDonnell Douglas MD-81/MD-88 Fix. The enclosed data fixes a couple of small issues with the McDonnell Douglas MD-81/MD-88 package by Rob McAlister if your computer displays Rob's engine smoke above and below the left wingtip, and displays both the MD-81 and MD-88 hovering a couple of feet above the runway, then these simple fixes may work for you. Easy installation. By Tom Tiedman.
DESCRIPTION:
The enclosed data fixes a couple of small issues with
the wonderful McDonnell-Douglas MD-81/MD-88 package by
Rob "Ace_Pilot_Rob" McAlister, which you must have
previously installed in FSX. I can only speak for
FSX-SP2... but if your computer is like mine and displays
Rob's engine smoke above and below the left wingtip,
and displays both the MD-81 and MD-88 hovering a couple
of feet above the runway, then these simple fixes may
work for you too! Easy installation. By Tom Tiedman

FOR MD-81 LANDING GEAR:
Open your MD-81 "aircraft.cfg" file. Find the 4 lines
of data similar to these listed below and erase them.
Then copy and paste these 4 lines of data below back into
your "aircraft.cfg" file, replacing what you just
erased. Then click 'file', then click 'save', of course.

FOR MD-88 LANDING GEAR:
Repeat as above for the 11 lines of data similar to those
shown below in the MD-88 "aircraft.cfg" file. Then click
'file', then click 'save', of course. Now your MD-81
and MD-88 will both sit properly on the runway surface.

SMOKESYSTEM FOR BOTH THE MD-81 AND THE MD-88:
1.) Copy and paste the enclosed "fx_smoke_f6" file
into your FSX "Effects" folder. (It is probably
there already).
2.) Open your MD-81 and MD-88 "aircraft.cfg" files,
find both [SMOKESYSTEM] entries, and erase them.
3.) Copy and paste the [SMOKESYSTEM] data shown below
back into both "aircraft.cfg" files, replacing
what you just erased. I pasted mine at the bottom
of both files with good results. Then click 'file',
then click 'save' for both "aircraft.cfg" files.
You now have a smoke which displays better in
FSX-SP2 and is located at the engines instead of
above and below the left wingtip.
NOTE: Both of these MD models display the smoke only
at certain throttle (speed) settings, so don't
get discouraged if you don't see the smoke all
of the time... you did not do anything wrong
while changing the data.
4.) Enjoy your flight!
