A huge mega-pack bringing the Boeing 777-200 with a complete model, many repaints, and a fully working VC (virtual cockpit) to your copy of Microsoft Flight Simulator X (including Steam Edition) and Prepar3D (all versions including v4/v5).

KLM 777-200 after departing Schiphol in Prepar3D v5 using this add-on. Put together by developer William Luxton, this pack merges the POSKY (Project Opensky) Boeing 777-200 model with over 32 repaints and also introduces a new, fully functional 3D VC complete with the pack.

The Boeing 777-200 took its maiden flight in 1994 and the first delivery, made to United Airlines was in May 1995.  The 777 or as it’s known as the “Triple Seven” was designed to fit in between existing smaller aircraft such as the Boeing 767 and larger aircraft such as the Boeing 747 as a middle ground aircraft.

It’s arguable that the 787/7E7 is a replacement for Boeing’s 777 project however the 777 is still in full active service with many carriers around the world and still in production by Boeing.

This particular pack is based on the 777-200 model which is the smallest/shortest variant of the low-wing twinjet.  The 777-200 can carry 305 passengers in a three-class config.

All of the repaints and liveries are accurate and based on real-world operations however some fictional repaints have been included for completeness.

The included POSKY 777-200 model features a huge array of custom animations and advanced features including;

  • Flexing wings under load (lift)
  • Fully functional body landing and nose gear steering animations
  • Working locking rudder
  • Ground spoilers
  • Aileron locks (low speed) functional at high speed
  • All of the control surfaces are animated and modeled accurately
  • Working suspension which moves and animates as the aircraft moves over bumpy ground
  • Trimming of control surfaces is animated
  • PAX (passenger) doors open/close with animation when activated
  • Animated tilting bogies
  • Fan textures are semi-transparent for a realistic look when the engines are running
  • All wheels on the aircraft are functional and move/animate when taxiing and landing
  • Fully animated reverse thrusters and block doors (as can be seen in the video)
  • Fully functional and visible night lighting and effects
  • Animated ground service vehicles such as fuel and baggage loading

All of the repaints and models are fully programmed to be used immediately - no need to edit aircraft.cfg files or place textures - it’s all complete and everything has been configured already.

The pack also includes an auto-installer (EXE) file for ease of installation - it is simply click-and-go to get the aircraft installed into either FSX or P3D.  However, also included are the manual uncompiled files for the aircraft pack should you wish to use those instead - this option is also future proof should installation directories change or the auto-installer becomes incompatible with your OS in the future.

This add-on has been released as freeware and is completely free to download and use.

Installation

Double click on the file “FAMP_PoskyB777-200.exe” inside the “Auto Installer” folder for automatic install or for manual install, drag the “Boeing 777-200Ge90 Mega Pack” folder inside the “Manual Installer” into your “SimObjects\Airplanes\“ folder.

Developer

This pack has been compiled and put together by developer William Luxton.  The model is based on the original POSKY (Project Opensky) model with some modifications to make it fully compatible with the newer versions of FSX and P3D (P3Dv4/P3Dv5). 

Repaints are included from various artists/developers via various sources with full credit available inside the downloadable archive.

How to install this mod

FSX / P3D aircraft

  1. Extract the downloaded archive

    Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files.

  2. Copy aircraft files into SimObjects

    Place the aircraft folder inside FSX\SimObjects\Airplanes\. The folder must contain an aircraft.cfg file. Effects go into FSX\Effects\; gauges go into FSX\Gauges\.

  3. Verify in FSX

    Launch FSX, go to Free Flight → Select Aircraft and find your new aircraft under its manufacturer.

  4. Always read the included readme

    Every mod ships with a readme.txt or README file. It tells you exactly where files go, what dependencies are needed, and any quirks specific to this add-on.

This was the first add-on airplane I have downloaded and installed for MS FSX (original box version 2006). As I recall, everything went relatively smooth and the plane was pretty complete.

The thing I look for most in an addon is not so much even a paint scheme, but rather a fully functioning and realistic looking and working virtual cockpit and panel. As I began to download more addons, especially scenery, I noticed that the large addon scenery packages were downloading exceptionally slow.

I decided to pay for PRO Membership for at least a month to get as many downloads as I could, especially the large scenery files. The speeds were significantly faster and I could download more than one file at a time. I am pleased with this.

I would like to know in what way are any questions, concerns, installation problems, or other issues are addressed and answered because I notice that a lot of comments are submitted on certain downloads but I don't see any answers or suggestions posted in reply. Does anybody handle these questions or am I just going to be posting concerns to nobody anywhere out there in outer space? Thanks for any reply that might respond to my concern.

    Hi, I have an issue with the fuel tanks on the 777-200. When you fill the aircraft with fuel, after a long flight only the center tank and tank No. 1 are being used. Tank No. 2 (the third tank) remains full, so the plane runs out of usable fuel.

    As I was searching for the nearest airport (APU on), the plane was banking to the right due to the weight in tank No. 2, which was still full. This makes it very difficult to keep full control of the plane.

    Workaround: In the aircraft settings, set the fuel load for tank No. 2 to 0%.

    As a model, I like this plane.

    The 789 model works OK with the same fuel panel gauges (central tank, 1, and 2).

    Please fix this issue. Everyone thinks the aircraft is “full,” but after the central tank and No. 1 are empty, you run out of fuel while tank No. 2 remains full.

    There's no doubt that this is an excellent free 777 add-on aircraft, but each time I fly with the airplane for a while (after taking off and climbing) the game crashes, especially after I click "view flight analysis". Does anyone have this problem as well or is there any solution to this?

    The virtual cockpit buttons are not working on my FSX Steam Edition. The VC image is displayed perfectly but nothing happens when you place the mouse over all the buttons and levers to configure the aircraft for flight. For this, you need to open additional screens for each part of the cabin.

    1- All buttons of autopilot panel 2- All buttons and levers of the central panel (Flaps, throttle, speed brake and cut off fuel levers) 3- All the buttons of overhead panel 4- FMC.
