Editorial
Helicopters are a much-underrated part of the FS2004 experience, at least for myself. I’ve found that the lack of good options at times has made it hard to find a helicopter I actually enjoyed flying, so when I see this 4-in-1 package I thought it was going to be worth a go. Alan Devins is a talented and active developer, and is very skilled at using GMax, so I figured it was worth trying out. I am glad that I did, though, as Mr. Devins has done a fine job of getting four very challenging to use helicopters into FS2004 without feeling frustrating, limited or thrown together.
Performance and Usage
However, I will caution that no panels or sounds are included. If you are someone who needs the full image and setting to make their enjoyment of a new download possible, prepare to be disappointed – this is the meat, not the bones.
It’s made up for with the highly detailed (for FS2004) reflective paint, matched by the specular lighting. This creates a realistic and reflective look to the aircraft that ensures it carries the air of authority that you would have hoped for/expected. With compressing skids, opening doors and animated pilots, you can feel the business within the cockpit. The aircraft all manage to feel alive thanks to the minor but very important animated functions. If you want to be sure that the aircraft you are flying can feel secure and safe, then these four are a good bet – they follow the real kind of variations that you would have expected. From a police edition with floats to an animated skid version, this managed to give you each of the most important kinds of this aircraft designed to the highest possible standard.
However, to counter the missing panels and sounds, you can find plenty of MD520N helicopter sounds and panels out there to use instead. I used a pre-assembled package that I found online and it was a very impressive experience.
All in all, this is one of the most enjoyable experiences in terms of helicopter usage that I’ve had in some time. While it might not be the FSX quality that I am used to, it’s a fine rendition of some very important helicopters.
Happily recommended for anyone who needs a bit of help enjoying helicopters rather than normal planes and other associated aircraft when they’re using FS2004.

the helo works very nice in FSX, cannot get the floats to deploy.
