Experience a refined simulation of Rotterdam-Zestienhoven Airport with this freeware enhancement, created by Joost de Wit. Featuring an updated AFCAD (also sometimes referred to as a scenery update) tailored for Microsoft Flight Simulator X, it modifies gates, taxiways, and runways for a more precise representation of the airport environment. Registered under the ICAO code EHRD, Rotterdam-Zestienhoven is often recognized as the second busiest airfield in the Netherlands, serving regional and charter traffic in the western part of the country.

Key Enhancements to Airport Dynamics

This update relies on new AFCAD files produced through Airport Design Editor (ADE). It repositions parking stands and refines taxiway geometry so that both arrivals and departures can be handled more realistically. Rotterdam-Zestienhoven, which is positioned within close proximity to city centers, accommodates a wide variety of short-haul flights for regional carriers.

Focus on Realism

The creator, Joost de Wit, tested the upgrade under FSX Service Pack 1 conditions to ensure stability. While it is likely to function in FSX Service Pack 2 as well, it has not undergone full SP2-specific testing. Flight simulation enthusiasts may still appreciate the intricate details aimed at mirroring present-day EHRD airport procedures. This release has not been evaluated on FS9 (Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004), and compatibility there is uncertain.

Installation Guidelines

  1. Copy the two .bgl files into your FSX/Addon Scenery/Scenery directory.
  2. Verify that the ‘Addon Scenery’ folder is active in your sim’s scenery library.

Uninstallation Process

  1. Simply remove the same two .bgl files from your FSX/Addon Scenery/Scenery folder.

With these modifications, you can enjoy smoother traffic flows in and around Rotterdam-Zestienhoven Airport. Land confidently at this lively gateway in western Holland and appreciate the carefully crafted stands, taxi routes, and runway alignments brought to you by Joost de Wit.
