X-Plane 11/10 Canadair Sabre 6 1.0

The Canadair Sabre 6 was developed from the North American F-86E. With the Orenda 14 at 7375 lb thrust, it was the ultimate development of this airframe.

The models included are:

• RCAF: 2 liveries, 439 squadron and 441 squadron, both based at Marville France.
• Golden Hawks: RCAF aerobatic team based at Chatham New Brunswick.
• West German air force. 71 Jagdgeschwader at Ahlhorn.

A manual is included for information on the model and flight procedures.

The 439 aircraft is the one that I flew on the last flight of 439 squadron sabres in 1963. The aircraft is as accuarate in appearance and performance as I can make it, but some small compromises had to be made.

Here are some responses to the feedback. The gunsight image, (central dot and circle of diamonds) appears on the reflector plate at speed over about 100kt. 3d cockpit only.

Help with engine sounds would be appreciated, I have no experience with replacement sound files.

The canopy has no keyboard activation. The switch works in both 2d and 3d.

Stick settings will vary with your setup. The Sabre had very sensitive stick controls. Anyone flying it in formation for the first time would do continuous little up and down oscillations, even with a feather light touch on the stick! The roll rate as presently set up is probably a bit high.

Gear overspeed??? I didn't have any failures set, maybe the problem is there.

NDB approach: Yes Jaques, I did mean 20 000 and 15 000 feet. The descent rate with these settings is around 6000 ft/min. You have to watch it as you hit the leveling altitude. I should say that 12000 ft would be a better turn height if you are going to do a straight in approach as in the diagram. 15000 would work if you are going around to the opposite end of the runway under radar direction.
