Editorial

Having been a fan of the DHC2 in the past, I wanted to grab this and add a nice new amphibian to my list of available aircraft in FSX. This was designed by Jean-Pierre, Brisard, Barry Blaisdell, Bob May and Kevin Pardy of Premium Aircraft Design. As one of my favorite design groups, I was eager to try this out and see what I was dealing with – and I have to say, the boys have not let me down once again!

Preview screenshot

This recreation of the DHC2 was put together in FSDS2 & 3, and comes with all of the bells and whistles you would expect. High-end animations, quality wing views, a clear dynamic shine, a fully manageable suspension and water rudders all come together to create a very interesting aircraft experience.

Brilliantly Detailed & Extensively Featured

Add in the addition of new 2D panels and a fully dynamic virtual cockpit, and this feels about as attentive and as detailed as it possibly could. With a completely re-designed and managed cabin, the addition of the new crew doors is another nice touch that helps to further sell the quality and enjoyment that you can get from this model. It’s the little things here that can make much of the difference: the whole aircraft just feels well put together.

If you aren’t noticing just how faithful this is to the real specs, it’s the small and minor spoilers in the cockpit that make the difference. Add in the new sounds that are included to help replicate the old aircraft and it becomes very easy to see why the DHC2 is so beloved by myself, amongst others.

Lost? Then be sure to check out the extensive help and details provided by the team who manage this. This will make it much easier for you to manage your flight, getting to grips with all of the little features that the team has included in here.

Overall, I would need to say that I am incredibly impressed by the work that has gone into the development of this package. If you are looking for a well-detailed and accurate model that carries the kind of features we look for both visually and in terms of how it performs, be sure to keep at it with this!

I absolutely love this take on the DHC2, and I most certainly think you’ll be the same if you try it out!

FSX DeHavilland DHC2-MK3 Turbo Beaver . The propeller disk display fix from "Premier Aircraft Design" doesn't work! I have a high end i7 SSD system, and the prop spin is a grey disk. I dl'd the fix and it couldn't be opened. The meesage said file was empty? There is no support from premier. This AC should be pulled from downloads.

The VC view has a problem with the propeller view. It shows as a grey disc in front of the plane obstructing the view out of the front of the plane. Premier Aircraft Design has made a fix for this that you can download from their site. Once the fix has been installed, this is one of the best prop planes in the game! Amphibious, turbo, even has reverse thrust to slow you down after a water landing! Very good model and fun to fly! I highly recommend this if you love Beavers or you are looking for a good, fast, powerful amphibian.
